I used to watch PM back when it was on VGBC but have kinda fallen off since then, so it's cool to see a recap video like this and to see so many people still playing. I'd love a recap vid like this every 1-2 months too, since it can be hard to keep up sometimes

melee coming back vs pm coming back are 2 entirely different situations. One was an actual smash game whereas the other is a mod. With Melee Nintendo took a stance on competitive smash. With PM, it being competitive was small potatoes to the fact that it was ALSO a mod of their game. PM has basically no chance of coming back and using melee as an example is pointless and really stupid of you.

As someone who has got into competitive smash starting at PM, it makes me really happy that it is still thriving! Even though I have switched to melee as my main game, PM still holds a special spot in games for me. Man i miss the character and stage diversity haha Anyways, amazing video. Definitely a subscriber now!

PM's very existence is fascinating. Sure Melee has had its revival but this one is whole other animal. If I had the money and know how I'd love to make a huge documentary on it. Nevertheless it's great see this and 'The Big Balc' mini docs of late, proof that people still care. Well done!

Project M grew really depressing last year. The Sm4sh modding community proved to be very controversial to them, for as soon as somebody imported one of their animations, all hell broke lose. Even the Melee HD mod has recently started that, due to a cease and desist from the PMDT, they will be halting animation imports from that mod and, eventually, remove any existing animations they have on it where it stands now; with Sonic being the last Project M veteran to return with everything but his up taunt. Truly is a sad shame, cause I would've loved to see PM Wario and especially PM Roy to make a splash, but there's nothing we can do now. For real, they just became unusually defensive about their mod. People only play it more now, if anything, thanks to Lyn, Knuckles and, eventually, the best character mod ever made: Waluigi. These characters alone guaranteed that nobody would let go of Project M. So, it's sad to see that we can't return it to Sm4sh.

I love PM. The last version I played seriously was 3.5, then kinda dropped it for Sm4sh since it´s so hard to follow (being clandestine and all) but it makes this video doubly better for me. Mad props man. Also, two quick questions I´d appreciate if somebody answered: 1-Did they ever fix the single player, or at least the unwinnable events? I mean the ones dealing with the stages like "reach the end of mushroomy kingdom" or "break the floor in Skyworld"? And, 2- Which version is the one being used in tourneys? I´m guessing 3.6 vanilla (not the community build) but I´d appreciatte some clarification. Thanks in advance to any kind fam who bothers guiding me ;)

Glad you enjoyed the video :) I can't answer question 1 as I haven't tried all the events, but I wouldn't be surprised if mushroomy kingdom is still broken since we have to write over old stages to make room for new ones. As for question 2: Yes the most widely used version of PM is vanilla 3.6. There are other locations that use the leaked 3.61 balance patch, namely west Pennsylvania, Brazil, and maybe one or two others. There are also a few other community builds out there (I know Japan uses a community build with vanilla 3.6 balance plus leaked characters). But every major in 2016 and to this day uses vanilla 3.6 for balance, and maybe cosmetic changes on top.

I don't think so. Legacy TE is a great mod that retains the competitive balance of the original PM. I don't think competitive PM will move away from the original balance.

Did you miss Flex Zone 2 already? Last week we had Sosa, Malachi, and Flipp all at the same tournament with 100+ entrants. Shuffle in April, Bigger Balc in May, Smash N Splash in June, Supernova in July.... I think we're good :).

probably because Legacy wasn't something that grew the competitive community. It was purely for casual play. Now that LTE is out, and a few groups like The Big Balc have used it, it could become notable this year. It is a great build, and it would be neat to see it at future events, but part of me feels that it will drop off pretty fast.

Not gonna lie PM3.6 is not in a stable position at all. Online and offline if you look at how so many of the characters still have some hit box issues as well as a lot of tools that still keeps the game unbalanced. There are issues like re-grabbing ledge with some characters is very wonky where you will end up letting go immediately.
