Nice to see the effort you are putting into your project. I bought my first MGA in 1958 , a 1956 1500, a sweet running motor the 1500. My currant car is a 1960 Dove Grey 1600 coupe with Red leather trim . I purchased it in 1996 from Kansas USA with 48,000 miles on the clock . I fully restored it over a 2 year period and in 2000 I was fortunate to receive 1st place Concourse D elegance in Perth WA. The dove Grey colour gets lots nice comments whereas 18 years ago people though it an odd choice for a sports car. I will watch your progress with interest keep up the good work.

Will done looking great What did you painted the chassis and parts with? Did you stick with the original nuts and bolts or did you go stainless Thanks for the info on the springs

The chassis actually got powdercoated. Its looks great but I do have to re-tap some of the bolt holes so the threads are cleaned up. The other parts just got sprayed with some rust-protection paint. I've tried to use as many of the original nuts and bolts as possible and bought a brass cartridge tumbler from a local gun shop to tumble the rusty bolts. Just chuck in some crushed walnuts and leave it running for 4 hours and it cleans them up. I then give them a zinc coating. How is your project going?

i am up to painting chassis and parts and start putting it back together The body has been sandblasted All rust gone post and sills replaced ( what a job ) I have a question for you the crossmember on the chassis under the gearbox what kind of condition was it in and did you do anything to fix it, mine is pretty well flat so I am going to get it back straight as possible Thanks

Hi there and thanks for watching. Hoping to get another video up soon - apologies for being slack with progress. There is now a bit of colour in the garage with the body back from paint. Engine is getting acid dipped so I can paint it too and then I hope to start on the reassembly.

Great videos, just removed the body off of my frame 1957 MGA. First time doing this, learning a lot, having fun. Did you sandblast your frame before coating? Is powder coating the best way to go? Live in Alberta, Canada and finding that getting parts from the UK is sometimes cheaper than the U.S. Currently looking for chrome wire wheels 60 spoke. Ideas? I will keep following your posts!

Great videos iam doing a 57 mga up but mine is extremely rough, I got it from someone who actually welded the door sills to the frame so iam left cutting the whole car off in pieces lol, have lots of metal fab ahead of me and I'm swapping out the 1500 with a 1948 Riley twin cam hemi instead
