Here's how I see it.. Subaru Project Midnight still won. 1st place for petrol powered cars! Sure, maybe not the overall win, but Petrol cars are what matters. Not oversized microwaves with wheels.. 😏🤙

As much as I like fast and overpowered electric cars, I feel like they don't have a place in competition like this. They need to have their own bracket. Still impressive none the less.

For the van, I wonder if they just put the smallest battery possible per race. You know you're going to be near "x"-amount of seconds total so you just do "x + 5s" worth of battery capacity to save size. That way you can keep absolute minimum weight and just pop in a different battery each race length.

The wrx did great considering it was 700 hp less then the van. Looks like so much fun to drive though!

Subaru of America (SoA) which is the one that is doing these projects with VSC, is not the same as Subaru of Japan. SoA is an independent subsidiary that makes its own decisions with minor input with the head company. It is for all purposes fully independent of Subaru and Fuji Heavy Industries as it makes decisions for the American Market. The cars we see are mostly the brain child of VSC and VSC alone because they are actually the ones that run and manage Subaru Motorsports.

Soooo that ford actually weighs more than the subaru by almost 2000 lbs. The van weights over 4400 lbs lol so the comments saying ohh well its got 700 more hp well 2000 lbs in race that has corners is a huge deal

i looked up the vermont MS wing on the project midnight $4000 (anybody wanna spot me ?)

It's not the same wing, but more-or-less similar. The VSC Carbon Fiber Motorsport wing was the one used on the 2017-2023 Subaru USA Rally Team on the VSC built WRX STI. One of of local Knoxville Subie group members has that VSC CF wing installed.. it's amazing in person!
