Project Opel GT 1971 #19 : Floor panels finally done

Floor panels done, and some other fixes to the floor. I don't like the tubular jack supports, so got rid of them. I need to design and make more sleek jack supports that are strong, but are not visible. Also I got rid of the all cabin floor draining holes. I have never ever seen anyone using them to get rid of the water from the cabin. They just create entrance for the water and dirt to get in. From the boot section of the car, however, the draining system needs to be improved even further. Hopefully more of that in next episode.

Just binged on all 19 episodes. You've documented amazing work and a strong sense of commitment to a vehicle way past it's expiration date. I'm torn between the original orange and yellow. Either would be gorgeous on this car. In the US the third alternative being considered is humorously known as "resale red" because it is so common.

The music from this series of videos is utterly incredible. This video is probably my favorite. I’m beginning to think that any two pieces of metal attached together near that car body are going to have a nice lumpy layer of rust in between them. The Opel and Ferrari Dino always remind me of each other - as far as curves and paint. Love the red, The orange is growing on me. I'd also consider deep blue or gunmetal - but that red really pops. Great work - really enjoying the series.

Danke für den Kommentar und ich stimme zu. Das Auto ist auf jeden Fall zumindest langlebiger als die Werksversion. Jeder Punkt wurde mit dickerem Stahl und vollständiger Schweißung repariert.

The rust is quite remorseless, but you are making a great job of tackling it. To be honest, all the colours look good, but I have a personal preference for the orange. At the end of the day, it's your car and you must choose what will please you most. Best wishes.

Incredible! I have a feeling that the car will be stronger than it ever was body-wise when you are done with it! As for the color: Pacifica Blue Mica Met. (feu S0 4498) - also known as J2. It is a Ford color from the early 90s, also used on the Fiesta XR2i 16V. It can appear really dark in low light conditions, but is a deep, rich blue in full sunlight.

A previous owner painted my '73 GT satin black but I plan to repaint it the original Fire Glow (orange). Other options I considered were Porsche Speed Yellow and Mazda's Soul Red. In any event, another great video. Your fabrication skills using basic tools is fantastic.

What a great video! I hope some day That my videos get as many views as yours do! Now that it is getting cold out and It gets dark at 5:00 now it is really hard to have time to work on the Opels. Right now we are in the middle of taking all the body panels off my parts car to see how the inner structures work. That porsche red is super close to the red that my 1973 Gt is painted in. I really like the color so I will probably take it to a paint store and have them match it.

Many years ago I painted my ‘69 GT black with a Red, Orange, and Yellow stripe from front to back. I mention the stripe because it had all 3 of your color choices. Red would be my choice of the 3.
