Next time you do the dry ice trick, try a rubber mallet instead of a scraper! It just crumbles off the chassis without even touching the steel.

I just love how you make everything appear to be straight forward, if only, I've been restoring my R32 GTR, (which coincidentally was originally imported by yourselves) for longer than I'd like to admit. This has to be one of the best little series on KZbin, keep em coming, I look forward to the updates.

The dry I method works better a bit easier when you put it in a big rubbish bag, then you can concentrate the cold in a specific area which makes it a bit easier to work, then and move the bag from spot to spot as you work. This way you don't waste as much of the ice-cold temperature as it's more focused and works a little faster at lifting the sound deading. I double bag the dry ice when I did it in my car.

A Great build process on a great car! I had a UK 2000 Impreza turbo wagon on a V plate (December 1999). I had the car when it was 6 years old, it was a great car. Standard Uk spec was 215hp at the time but it was mechanically very similar to the P1 in reality. The standard brakes were not really a match for the performance of the car, the front caliper pistons would pit and a small amount of corrosion would see the calipers stick which would in turn overheat and warp the front discs, a calliper rebuild was then the order of the day. I tried different makes of rotors and pads but they didn't really improve the braking over the standard Subaru discs and pads, the Subaru OEM pads are a good general pad in reality. Hopefully you will have better results with the Alcon's. I would get a high quality set of tyres on it, I'm not sure if Michelin do the pilot sport 4s in your size, but something like this will be a big step on in rubber from what was available 20 years ago. The standard UK Impreza 2000 from that era had 16 inch alloys with 205/50 x 16 Bridgestone Potenza RE0 10 tyres fitted as standard. I had the gearbox rebuilt as it started playing up, but at that stage the car was about 12 years old with well over 100,000 miles on it, I treated the car with respect and would never dump the clutch on it from a standing start. The clutch lasted over 100,000 miles on mine too before it needed replacing. The gearboxes can be problematic though so I would definitively get yours fully overhauled as I believe you intend to do. what sort of mileage was on your car when purchased as I believe you haven't said this in your videos. Headlights were poor also which resulted in a lot of people putting higher wattage halogen bulbs in, these would greatly improve the light output but would eventually result in the back of the bulb holders melting. I used to buy these bulb holders from Subaru breakers at about £1 each back in the day! The front drop links on the suspension were prone to wear out quickly too. I Obviously run the car on high quality super unleaded petrol. My car was religiously serviced and it was very reliable , quite a machine in its day! It was nice to get in a car like this and just drive it hard without having to faff around with touch screens and driver modes etc like you do on modern performance cars in our days.... ( the current golf R springs to mind! ) I also always let the car idle for a while after a hard drive as turning the ignition off immediately could eventually result in turbo wear due to the turbo bearings not getting cooled properly with no oil circulating. Good luck with the build, I am very much enjoying it!

So I know the old adage of time = money but how much did the dry ice cost? Just cos for a DIYer it may still not be a cost they could afford especially as countries like Australia such a product is WAY more expensive than in the UK or USA. I love the idea and I know it works well yet the costing has piqued my interest 😉
