Project Pontiac Update (Expo 2024 - Episode 38)

For episode 38 we head down to the shop floor at Straub Technologies where hosts Joe Castello and Lake Speed Jr join Jolie Woods (daughter of Joe “Dominator” Woods of Street Outlaws fame).
They’re at a Rottler F69 Automatic Machining Center with Joe Castello’s “Project Pontiac” block on it, which Joile (with the help of Dave Bullock of Wilkins Racing Engines) has just finished the lifter bores and cam tunnel.
The trio talk about Jolie’s what she’s learned in the shop, why she enjoys working on these engines, and the perspective of a 16-year-old and the next generation taking the performance engine building reins from the previous one. (Spoiler alert: Turns out, it’s “a lot funner” than she thought it was going to be.)

I don't mean this in a negative way, this information in these videos is Awesome. But at what point is this "Awesome" needed. Needed is not the right word. Is compared to this?My factory engine is junk, but it has 260,000 miles on it. It could easily be manipulated to make 6-800hp and live. When do you need to pay to have the best/ Perfect/right. ?

One reason why OEM is doing things more precise these days is for emissions, with today's fuel prices some things can pay for itself pretty quickly and the power is a bonus. 🙂
