There is one thing in common in most posts concerning the official DnD VTT. People want to know the business model. I would love to use an official VTT with great integration with DnD Beyond and with all the content prepared to run. But if there are paywalls everywhere, every other feature the product might have won't mean a thing. There's a lot of people already paying a master tier subscription + buying books and consuming other DnD content. The proper way to monetize DnD in my opinion is to make it as easy as possible and cheap to play the TTRPG while using the vast lore and mechanics to expand to movies, video games, tv shows and so on. The value of DnD is the entire stack.
@Chameleonradio2 ай бұрын
Considering D&D Beyond can't even do things like spend money to buy an item or track expended ammo with attacks, I'm skeptical of how smooth the actual gameplay is going to be. They really ought to focus on shoring up the system they have--despite its convenience it has several glaring accessibility gaps still.

@@Blubbermage I’m a “make it up as I go along” DM. Where I find joy in the game is listening to my players and building upon what they come up with. As a micro example, in my last game the players were tasked with gathering items to solve a puzzle. There was a solution I had prepared, but when they started going off course, I followed. The whole thing ended in a completely improvised scene in a market square (not the location I had planned) and talking to an NPC I made up on the spot. Because of that scene, I was inspired to toss in some old lore from several campaigns ago, something I might not have come up with during a prep session. Obviously, this tool won’t be useful for every scene, all the time. It’s best used for map-and-mini play, and maybe I’m gravitating away from that playstyle as a DM. But that’s just me; I’d never tell anyone that they’re playing “wrong” by using this and playing a map-and-minis game.

Microtransactions are fine - as long as they're supporting and promoting the TTRPG Community, which they won't. I want to see a platform that helps indie TTRPG's make a little extra money. I want to see a platform that focuses on building a larger TTRPG community and solving the problems that currently exist. My whole group is waiting for this to land. We usually use FGU but have migrated to BG3 for a rest and do we can all be players together for a change. The prep for GM is always savage, especially for homebrew, which we would do more of but too time poor. Will need some reasonable automation like FGU to make combat faster. I know this might sound cringe for purists but we want to be able to play in different ways. Not opposed to AI either. Not opposed to buying sets of digital tokens if the price is fair. Be adventurous with your offering. Then Hurry up and take my money.

Skyrim VR still better for the feel of being there. You made something 3D 2D and now I am done. Nice if it was 2010 but today? keep trying you will make me happy some day I believe in you. This is more arcade game type stuff. Maybe on a 1Up Arcade machine would be cool. VR is way, way more well play Dreadhalls in VR and you will understand what I am saying here. That is how my gaming group started in the early 80's, scared of every corridor and barricading ourselves in rooms. Open world is awesome too. Third person is so old for me in gaming and 2D is just over for me period. Keep trying.

This looks so cool, which makes it a bummer because you know it’s going to be monetized out the wazoo

this is amazing, thank you. I’m DMing a campaign with an arsenal of minis but had to relocate for work, this will allow us to finish in style.

And have it on to pc and console players like what Conan exiles are doing just saying

I just hope this is made with community modding in mind because if you put out this product and you cant upload custom 3D assets from the community I will loose all interest.
