Good to see you back, mate. I've missed the Tale of the Tiger 90. Good to watch someone who knows what they're doing, unlike when we were young fellas with our adjustable hammers and fag packet and silver paper (essential for plug and points gaps!!!).

Sometimes an adjustable hammer is the best tool to use! 💪

Great to see another tale from your shed. I've missed them. I really like your approach and the knowledge you share. The little jobs are just as interesting to me. I hate rust too so totally appreciate your displeasure at the condition of your chain guard bracket. I would love to know what paint you decided to use for those spindle caps. I find it hard to use a silver where there will be a lot of grease or oil and it has to be tough enough to cope with being screwed down. Could you lower the volume of the music you use for time lapse? It's louder than your voice when you are speaking. Cheers 👍

Sound is very hard to get right. I only use a phone and an app. For the caps, just Hammerite smooth. No idea how long it will last!

No worries. Just thought I'd mention it ... Thanks for saying. I've used smoothrite too but found it brittle when tightening up. However, in this case I imagine the fixings will only need nipping up so good.

Beautiful clean and shiny Tiger 90. Try to get it finished for the Fleet Lions classic rideout on May 6th. You'll probably win a prize. That's what I'm aiming for (no chance of a prize for mine though!). How did you get your swing arm spindle out? Dom had to use an hydraulic press. I made a substantial puller but could not budge it. I've got no play in mine so I accepted defeat.

Gentle tap out luckily. Its always been greased well. Plus, I think its half worn out. Not loose enough to replace the bushes yet. Can't believe Dom didn't ream it!

The problem is not the bushes but the interference fit of the shaft in the frame. Your's has been well looked after but mine is rusted solid. I'm waiting on engine parts too. The barrels are out for rebore. Also my instruments are being reconditioned.

Thats a great looking bike. Can't wait to hear to fire up when the engine is back in it. The only thing I don't love (and it's a small nitpicky personal detail that I should probably keep to myself) is the painted triumph logo on the tank knee pad. I don't think they ever did that on the vintage Triumphs, which is why it jumps out to me. I'm not a purist by any means, I have a 64 TR6 with a 57 paint job, a TLS brake, concentric carb, and a few other mods, but the painted white logo on the knee pad gives the bike a modern retro triumph vibe for some reason, which I'm not a fan of when we're looking at the real deal. Did the knee pad come like that or did you do paint it after adding the white to the tires?

I'll be honest, I can't remember about the knee pads. That tank is an older one. My original got stress cracks and I couldn't seal it. The badges are supposed to have the chrome strip between the pad and the badge. But the pads were the big thick screw on ones. And I didn't like them, so stuck on these newer type. And obviously its a custom paint job etc.
