I keep thinking I would love a T100C in my garage, great running bike, what a sound. Lovely video Paul.

My mate a university in the '70s had one of these. Really nice easy to ride bike. Was not amused when he fitted a sidecar and used me as ballast!

I had this same bike when I was 18 and loved it!

Have your client depress the clutch and place a bolt in the space between the clutch cable so that when the bike is stored the pressure is off the plates. You could also zip tie the clutch lever to the grip. That’s how I keep my clutch from sticking when it sits for a while... I also have a T100C. Works like a charm.

A dead ringer for my 1982 Tiger Trail 750 complete with the pipes and disc brakes. Mine came in yellow. I changed the tear drop tank for a breadbox tank. A very reliable bike with a single Amal. Turn on the fuel, tickle the carb, started first kick everytime.

Very nice simple style motorcycle as suits me. I believe that the trail machine has a very large crown, a short ratio. Powerful engine, I like to hear it. Always the lack of 5th gear that the English industry so competent, has not taken into account since the 60s. It was worth the beautiful ride.

I hankered after one of these bikes back in the day. A mate had a T90 in white but I always fancied the 500 cc. I ended up with a speed twin.

Nice bikes were the 70s 500 twins Strong ball/roller mains with end feed crank,much better arrangement than the earlier cranks with the troublesome main bearing bush engines Good twin leading shoe front brake also

Hi Paul my T10SS has a new clutch but after 5 months of infrequent use it does stick a bit so now just going to ride it whenever its not icey. Cheers
@paulhenshaw45143 жыл бұрын
Hi Noel, the 350 and 500 unit twins are about the worst bikes I have known for their clutches to stick, for some reason.
@williamnethercott43643 жыл бұрын
@@paulhenshaw4514 Yes, my 350 clutch used to to stick just like that. The longer the gap between rides the more it would stick. This is a very nice bike.

Well, I DO like the manner in which it smooths-out, and gets on the cam, at about 45 mph. I promise you, however, that if'n I need pilote this appliance any...ANY distance, that bloody dangling-key would NOT be surfing the breeze as it was here. Plays havoc with my peripheral vision. That it does. After this ride, plus the earlier one, I reckon that you added approx. 18-20 miles to the demeter. Has any of the owners ever, after having spied the OD-numbers, did a bit of mental arithmetic, and then bitched 'bout how he thought that your road-tests were too long ? He-he-he ! MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours !
@paulhenshaw45143 жыл бұрын
Merry Christmas, Amelie! The highest number of miles I put on a customer's machine was 200 miles [not all in one go] on a fully rebuilt BSA A65, which was reluctant to settle down, but came good in the end. Most of that mileage is seen in my clips on here and it shared the same owner as this Triumph - I have worked on quite a number of BSA and Triumph machines for him over the years.

I don't remember these at all Paul. Most I knew had Daytonas. How did the front brake perform? Its the 7 inch I believe same the smaller BSA. My 1970 B25 was shocking then I swopped the front brake and it was really good.
@paulhenshaw45143 жыл бұрын
Hi Nigel, these are great little bikes - very nippy for the lanes, probably a bit low geared and busy for motorways to be any fun, though. The brakes are well up to the job, as is the machine all round, to be fair.

Very nice. Sound is lovely. I’m a bit curious Paul, about how fast you’d be willing to run these old twins. I had an old A10 back in my college days. I distinctly remember when I was sure it was time to shift. I had to do with when the motor ran out of breath. There was no tachometer, so it was all by ear and feel. But I’m certain I was going higher than I hear folks go on these bikes today. I remember the note like it was yesterday, after 40 years. My guess is that it might have been 6500 or more. Since my young stallion days are behind me, I rarely go as far down as I did then. But my ears are as good as they ever were.
@paulhenshaw45143 жыл бұрын
Hi Phillip, with any engine I have rebuilt, I am not afraid to let them rev quite hard, as I know what they are like inside. I work my engines quite hard, even fairly soon after rebuilding, although I don't 'thrash' them, as I like to be as sure as I can that any faults will show up before they go back to their owners and I can put things right, if required.
@andytheflyer3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have a 72 T100R that I rebuilt last year, so I know the condition of the engine. I rev mine to 6000, max, and redline I think is 7k. Typically I don't rev it above 5000. They only get a move on above 4500 rpm, and they are reputedly a very strong engine anyway. This one sounds really nice (even on points!), well done Paul.

@@paulhenshaw4514 Well, if there's a defence for ignorance, it can be noted that he is primarily a restorer of classic/antique motorcars...leaving me to surmise his having relied greatly on the written word of others &/or manuals. And, most importantly, he did NOT ride it into a lake, as 'The Fonz' once did !
