In this part I've stripped the loco down and have a look at the chassis etc.

One wonders how successful this Warship was in its previous life with such an acute wheel profile ! Anyway, looks like you have already got that sussed out. Originally, quite a heavy, well engineered model by the looks of it, and not that cheap when new. Motors look quite powerful as well. Looking forward to seeing you repair the body. This model has got so much potential going for it for sure … All the best !

Yes I agree with everything you say, it was the potential that persuaded me to buy it. Thank you for your comments.

I have an old Maxitrak power bogie under my 5" 0-4-0 and the toothed belt has lasted well but considering how cheap they are and taking into account from the condition of the locomotive I would be very tempted to put new ones on while you have it apart. I'm enjoying this interesting rebuild so keep up the good work Mick.....

Thanks Barry good to hear from you. I assume the belts are easy to get.

eyup Michael good idea with the lifting handles, looks like a little machining required on the wheels, if hafords paint will do the job go for it, what about your local auto supplies shop, they usually have a good range and mine is cheaper than halfords!!, just a thought. ATB Kev

Hi Kev, I have put handles on my other bodies as glass fibre can be quite fragile. I`ve already bought Halfords spray ( Vauxhall Bergundy Red) as I have used it before. Some other sprays sometimes react badly to existing surfaces. But thanks for your input.
