Supposedly, even Reiji and Xiaomu are technically honorary SRW OG characters by their unique nature of being OCs to appear in Endless Frontier before Kogoro and Mii. In fact, the former pair basically took over the latter roles as MCs for PXZ in the second game because Kogoro and Mii, who are the OCs for that game, got cut for no reason.

I personally think cause this is Sanger himself doing the battling than him being in his actual Super Robot he uses that it is way more personal here vs piloting his own super Robot since he has to personally face to face the enemy with nothing in between in this game. Especially the fact that he has to wield his own Zankantou too so has to actually show fully his skills.
