To 'level' the walkways, Marine-grade foam sheets offer manufacturers and others increased structural strength and better resistance to moisture damage, especially when compared to wood. Since they're designed not to absorb liquid, marine-grade foam sheeting doesn't rot or warp when it's been exposed to water. It is easy to cut, can be laid with thickened epoxy resin and comes in varying thicknesses. The refinished Teak can be 'glued' down over it and you will have a solid foundation that doesn't add a lot of weight topsides...👍

great feedback, I looked into it. still considering, but the height varies between 10 and 30 mm. that would make it very hard to use sheets. I looked into the pourable marine grade foam, very interesting, but hard to control in an open space.

Stunning lines. A beautiful craft worthy of preservation. A question: Did you consider pulling the boat and working on it on the hard, perhaps in workshop?

Yeah that definitely is the idea, still looking for a spot and crane to take me there, but hopefully this winter she's on the dry....

Looks like foam concrete on the sidewalks. They use it where concrete is needed but weight is a factor.

I think so too, now when I wanted to buy some the store told me it’s not watertight? Whereas if I check docs online they tell me it is waterproof.?!? Go figure…

Th and for that great idea. I settled on epoxy filler. That’s the way the boatyard would do it nowadays . Just need to find a reasonable price on the product.

I've been following your progress that you've been doing on this steel boat it looks awesome as far as your decking goes here in the US there is a covering called sea deck might be an alternative for you to look into instead of the teak... There is no holes needed to install sea deck I believe itself adhering or you glue it down..
@BoatProjectY
@BoatProjectY 3 ай бұрын
thanks for your reply. I might have expressed me wrongly. I look for NO alternative to the teak. the teak is gorgeous , and well preserved. I look for a material to replace the levelling compound they used when building the boat.
@danielsplayhouse3804

@@BoatProjectY if leveling is what you're wanting to do the best bet I would say for leveling would weld steel down to bring up the level and fill in the insides with epoxy with chop strand fiberglass.
