I'm not sure if another comment stated something along the same lines but, the aspect of washing your clothes isnt "just something you can do". blood on you can increase infection rates and make you stressed out, especially if you have the fear of blood trait. Haven't played yet, understood everything. That shows. In my opinion, a very long tutorial that takes its time is better for new players than a short one packed with information like "[X>50] tips for completely new beginners" in 3 minutes. Great guide, calm, never had the urge to say "slow down for god's sake", perfect ! :D

Life and living hours are: Cook Show@0600 Woodcraft@1200 and Survival guys (Trapping/Farming/Fishing)@1800 If you want to keep wounds from infecting, you NEED to wash yourself and your clothes

You are right being drowsy is not the worst but it is still pretty terrible and means you should outright avoid fighting at all if possible till you can get some rest. It reduces your damage by half and thats only the first stage of being tired with next close behind with way, way worse penalties. Thats something you should have mentioned.

Great series, really loving it as someone new to the game. I was playing and not sure what to do. Would have liked if you viewed the "temperature" panel when you were hot, to see what it looks like. You kept looking at the "protection" panel for what the clothes were giving you, but never showed how protection changed temperature readings.

Good point! I didn't explore temperature too much--I just look at the outside temp and pay attention to my character's moodles to see if I'm too hot or cold, but the game does a great job explaining the temp gains etc on each piece of clothing!

Enjoying the series; my partner and I started playing yesterday and we're having a heck of a time. I think I'm up to 8 deaths, she is at maybe 7. Trying to get back to our home after respawing across the city is frustrating. So we're going to use sandbox to tweak a few things and hopefully have a bit more fun

You can leave the lights and TV on all the time if curtains are on the windows and not much point in barricading the doors with chairs when they can climb into the windows (more likely)

8.5k views in a month isn't that bad at all. I only recently found out about PZ. It's a great game, but the learning curve is definitely there. Coming from Eve Online's learning curve to this definitely told me I need to watch some stuff. Stumbled upon this channel, needless to say I subbed just from the PZ content, but then to find out you play stuff like Kenshi, Factorio, etc. 100% a fan.

Im not sure if it's been covered in the comments already, and probabilly doesnt matter at this point, but you want to wash your clothes when they get too bloody or dirty, cause it could lead to an infection if you have any open scratches or wounds.. also, you want to wash yourself when you get too dirty or bloody so you don't accidentally eat with gore covered fingers. Which i think can lead to making you sick, if not exposing you to the Knox Virus.

This guide is really helpful. Thank you. But I can’t help but notice a few discrepancies between your game and my game. Zombies in my game seem to break down doors and windows extremely quickly. There are also considerably more zombies in my world all over the place, making travel between houses without being seen pretty much impossible. Also, I have been seen multiple times by a zombie outside through the window of a house while I’m crouched inside of the house, causing them to break the window in 15 seconds or so. These three factors are making it difficult for me to play the game

All starts are different! Sometimes, the zombies are everywhere... it's brutal! It might take a few worlds created to get a safer landing spot. Make sure all lights are off and the curtains are closed before exploring the house, is one idea! Also, try to get a weapon practice fighting one zombie at a time to learn the combat. One of the reloads after a death should put you into an area with less Z's!

Very nice video series, really helpful, I hope you keep it going. I have observed the same thing, 3-4 different starts, one of them in the very same house he starts in this tutorial, and there are 4-6 zombies outside every single small house in the area in addition to bigger groups of 6-8 around. In this game it seems there is 1-2 zombies in the whole area. And it is with normal zombie population, apocalypse. So it is literally impossible to explore any house without fighting 8-10 zombies. It is something I have observed with almost every youtube series out there that is supposed to be on default apocalypse: Much much lower zombie count compared with any of my starts. Maybe it is bad luck. Just saying so other players do not get frustrated when they see that there is no way to go outside your starting house without fighting a bunch of zombies or running away, it is the usual thing, do not worry :) .

When opening a can of, say soup, and you want to cook it on the stove, how do you do that? Thanks in advance.

You have to cook the soup INSIDE the stove in a pot. Need some water in the pot and the can of soup (iirc) and then you put it in the stove and turn it on. Turn the stove off when done! You should be able, with the right ingredients, right click on the pot of water and open up some cooking options. I think you can see the recipes you can cook in the crafting screen as well.

Overall good tutorial, just some minor lack of attention. You should've explained why there was an pot at the oven inside of the zombie's house and why it was one of the visible items. Also, when you found the toolbox in the first video, it wasn't actually empty because it contained a screwdriver.

Do you have to carry the bag with you with the items in it? Or can you store items in the bag and then return the bag with the items in your inventory?

You have to either wear the bag on your back, if you can, or carry it in your hand. If you put it in your inventory, you will not be able to access the items inside until you set it down or equip it into a hand!

Was there a recent update that increased the amount of zombies? I started playing on Survivor difficulty in Rosewood, and I can't walk two steps without running into a cluster of zombies. They are even in my starter house at times. For you entire streets are empty?

Haha, just wait... it looks good at first but gets crazy soon. The zombies tend to aggregate in certain areas and leave others less populated. Town centers are the worst. I feel you. Some games I have just a few zombies, sometimes they are legion and on me at the start. It can be brutal!

Hi! Nice tutorial, but not finished seeing it yet, so sorry if my question is answered on your video: I play in the difficulty level "apocalypse" and whatever the city, I find lots and lots of zombies between houses. Its impossible to reach an house without beeing seen, I am always running and wherever I go, I see lots and lots of zombies. It doesnt seem to happen that with you. Why is that? You choose sandbox mod, perhaps by default you get less zombies?? Thanks for answering and thanks for the tutorials! :)

Hi! I don't play apocalypse setting so I'm not sure, but it may have more zombies. Additionally, zombies congregate in the center of towns and running actually attracts more zombies. Try to always be sneaking, and if they see you, break line of sight with trees and houses while walking as much as you can to shake them!

Apocalypse does have a much higher starting zomboid population! Its strongly recommened to play a stealth game :)

Is it possible in the settings to change the watch/clock/etc to be 12hr instead of military time - or is it maybe dependent on the type you find? Oh, and I thought I read that keeping yourself and your clothes clean help to avoid getting sick and/infection if injured?

It might depend on the kind of watch for sure! I would love to be able to switch it to 12 hr time myself. Perhaps there is a mod that does this? You may very well be right about washing your clothes and the positive effects of that! It's much faster if you have soap as well. However, I find that I want the water for drinking instead of washing my clothes as they tend to get all dirty the next time I fight a zombie anyway haha. But I guess if you aren't fighting a lot, you can keep em clean longer!

I am fairly new to this game (baught it 2 weeks ago and have 20 hours playtime) This is just a random story from one of my plays I had recently. I had my base (well just all my shit collected) in the rosewood firestation. I had a car and I thought why not check out the area under rosewood and I saw online on the map there was a gasstation and a drive in theater for cars and I thought maybe I could find a good car there. I drove there and I pressed the honk button on accident. All zombies came in. I then thought why not drive slowly away and keep honking and lead them away. So I did that and led the massive horse to the farmhouses to the left and drove the circle a couple of times. Yeah the gasstation is safe and the parking lot also but there are like 500 zombies in the farms just very closeby. I just hope the horde wont migrite into rosewood because I honked my car a lot and I just got them in that rounded area😂😂 I just hope I dont regret this later. But I maybe I will die in the next few days and never know. I have been surviving this character for 5 days now and 7 was my longest😂😂 I really enjoy the game. Also I delete my safe file when I die. I want the story to end when I die. I dont like the idea of spawning in again and then finding my dead body....
