When you get bitten, you are truely free. Grab a disposable, yet good weapon, leave your good stuff at the base, and clear up the area as much as you can, go to valuable loot location and lure all the zombies away if you can, etc... you can make the world a bit more comfortable for the next guy/girl.
@DrIncompetent

Haha, truly free indeed! I love the idea about clearing the area for your future self--I didn't think of that. I usually just get naked and die haha. I have to think more about the next generation ^_^

I like to delete my safe file when I die so it just adds to the story of 1 life and never getting it back. Also I have 20 hours in and my longest survival was 7 days. I am getting decent in the early game. Get a car just loot up some place and its not a big deal. I like how in this game its somewhat easy to start over and over again. I am just practicing the early days. Maybe when I have a couple hundered hours in and I manage to survive a month or something I will feel different about creating a new character in the same world but for now its just all very basic. I havent build that extremely. But still I play very carefull and I often drive away in my car and I try to really scope out my lootrun by having the map open on my phone irl. Its just really rewarding/satisfying when I manage to clear a group of like 15 zeds and then looting up the place. Also I have ran and crashed cars hahaha its amazing having to go back a couple of days later and trying to loot up your old car or just going for the loot spot with a different approch. This game is amazing hahaha

I just don't understand that with how frequent death is, how are we supposed to make any meaningful gain in our skills? I literally can't even get a full level in a skill before I die lol.

@@jmannxiiiaaron get good ? take less risks ? stop fighting zombies all together and lure them away from locatioms you want to loot .. 99% of time i die is because of my greed or overconfidence but im getting so much better at combat and running away from zomboids.

They should pay you for this work. The fact that you can build a new guy and play on the very same map takes away the potential frustration which prevented a lot of people (myself included) from taking a shot at this game. Awesome and entertaining tutorial

27:20 Took me a while to realize it myself, but i think that's supposed to be a scarecrow... It looks more like an impaled petrified zombie though, so I gues it's more of a scarebrain than a scarecrow. Just like with Death Road to Canada, I've been playing a lot of this game years ago, when the zombies were still 2d sprites and Let's Plays were still a fresh thing. Back in the day I had the same thought as you had in EP1 of the tutorial: Just think of what you would do to survive in real life, and you can probably do it in Zomboid. After so many years of updates, they have quadrupled down on that concept, so it's really amazing to watch someone play this game, and learn from your experiences while coming up with ideas myself. Defo gonna reinstall the game and check out the years worth of updates, with your awesome help of course :D That said, when you walk around wih a heavy trashbag in your hand, and about to fight one or two zombies, wouldnt it be advisable to just quickly drop the bag on the floor, so you can fight unencumbered and with two hands? Or does it actually take too much time to unequip the trashbag? Good content on your channel once again. mid-term break and finished exams mean i have alot of time to binge on your new qud and zombo episodes :D
@DrIncompetent
@DrIncompetent Жыл бұрын
Haha, good to see you again my friend! I hope those exams went well :) You are right about the trash bag--it's probably best to drop it. I would in CDDA but here it does take a little time to do it, so I just kept it in my hand. That scarecrow is so terrifying. I half expect it to jump to zombie life if I get close, so I just run away haha ;D

You left the ice cream outside to melt! You're dying and you forgot to put the ice cream away! I've owned Zomboid for years at this point, tried one playthrough, realized it was very complicated, and never touched it again. As a couple of other commenters mentioned, it's easy to rage quit this game...death after death after death...but, you start developing the survivor mindset challenge. You make it 5 hours, next time 18 hours...damn, 2 days....then when you die at 30 days, you rage quit again...but, you want a better base, you want to clear a town.... The only limit is your own concept of what is the end game for yourself. Approaching a 1000 hours playing, with one play-through at about 3 years in-game. So yea. it's worth every penny and it's my go to game. All the best to you. Cheers.

Wait, crafting can fail if your level isn't high enough? I figured you just couldn't do it until a certain level, etc. What happens to the materials used if it fails? Are they destroyed? Oh no on being bit! Dang alarm clocks just ruining things lol I can only imagine how many times I'm going to die when I get it heh Thank you for explaining how it doesn't show you being zombie infected even with being bit, as I definitely would have assumed I got lucky otherwise. That's awesome the map keeps the markers for the next character though!
@DrIncompetent
@DrIncompetent Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's great that you can just keep playing on the same world. Just be sure to kill your old zombie self! haha. I am pretty sure you lose the materials if you fail to do the craft, but I'm not 100% on that! I know if you fail to deconstruct something, you fail to get any useful materials from it.

Do you have to read a book before you start a carpentry project? Or can you read a book and the multiplier is permanent?
@DrIncompetent
@DrIncompetent Жыл бұрын
You can read all or some of the book at any time to get a multiplier from it and it will last until the listed level, depending on the book. So it lasts until you use it all up and skill up past a certain level!

That's not a bad idea! You can certainly do that to a degree, but there are tons of Z's so it will only be a small group of them that will stick there probably.

@@DrIncompetent I thought I was on the wrong build because my outline targeting wasn't on. Finally figured it out by rummaging through another one of your video's KZbin comments. I remember the days of zomboid floating houses. Can't wait for a 10 year anniversary for zomboid. I remember when hydrocraft was the big hype before cars were even modded in. I have owned Project Zomboid since release and supported the game since launch. I ended up buying the game for multiple friends over the years. I love Vanilla PZ and light or heavy modded PZ. I am loving that Zomboid is gaining so much traction, but I hope the devs continue on their work style/work ethic. They don't need to ever go AAA style or anything. If you ever check out mods, I remember years ago playing a Walking Dead Prison map and having modded survivors in from TWD Cast. And playing Blackout servers. Those were PZ's golden years for me personally. Raiding servers were also always very interesting
