The Sandbox Settings I'm using now for my SP Save are so incredibly addicting. I turned off all respawning, and maxed out the zombie hearing distances. My characters have began the legacy of fully clearing every last zed from KY. After many dead characters, I have began my journey as the most powerful neckbeard of all time; A severely underweight, weak, out of shape unemployed nerd with crazy bonuses to gaining experience, and the speed at which I do all of my actions. My guy painstakingly gathered enough supplies to hole up in a quiet area and is now deep in the Chad-ification process; doing burpees until I am in agony, slamming some painkillers and perfecting my tailoring to the point of becoming almost completely bite proof. Soon he will step out into the world as a terror to behold. ...And then probably will die in a horrific car accident. lmao

This game does the organic jump scare perfectly. I was showing my partner the game recently, and thought I was safely looting a house, talking through the basics of getting loot. A downstairs window smashes: successful jump scare. I go downstairs, weapon ready: zombie RIGHT THERE. A second jump scare in less than a minute. There is no properly explaining the catharsis and sense of achievement that comes from taking a crowbar to the face of a zombie that's just jump-scared you XD

The second game to actually scary me. First game was 7 days to die. Everything was fine. At night not hearing anything near me I turn around and it's a "zombie bear" the sound it made was creepy. Then the second is Project zomboid. Ever tree movement makes me ready up. The random sounds gets thinking I'm outside my own house (lives in Tennessee). So I know what the screech owl is yet still gets me. I have my zombieland like rules now. Yet in the beginning houses are death traps if you aren't clearing the outside first and keeping your ears open. You hear something you best leave and have two exits. I'm never without checking a 360 area every couple of minutes.

I fucking love this game, but i also pisses me off an incredible amount. I got scratched once by a zombie on my hand, I then walk around until I gather some loot and make a base, then I start to get unpleasantly hot, nauseas, then I turn into a zombie, one scratch, this game is hardcore and that's why I love it.
@Drie_Kleuren Жыл бұрын
Yeah I always play sandbox settings and I turn zombie infection for saliva only.... I like to delete my safefile when I die to make it more realistic. I dont really like the random chance. Yes it makes it more that every hit can be dangerous but I also dont like the chance factor. Its like you get unlucky and you die. Idk, I like to know that I am going to die when I get bitten. If I survive the first moments after a bite and not die right away I usually just head home to base/safety and make a last stand and just fight till I am dead or just let the infection take over me. One time I was bitten and I look my shotgun and 20 boxes and went to louisville and just started shooting. It was so fun because I knew I was dead anyway. And this is my goodbye to the world before I die for good....

Let's not forget that half of any game is the ambiance and music, something I believe that project zomboid has nailed: occasianally you may hear death screams, shots dogs barking etc. and they actually draw zombies in. Furthermore, the music will now change in intensity dependent on your situation, if you are alone, facing zombies or facing an entire zombie horde.

i firmly believe that Project Zomboid falls into the same category together with Rimworld, Stardew Valley, Kenshi, Papers Please and Fallout New Vegas for world's perfect games those might be my personal opinions but i also believe its true, maybe not all of them, but atleast 4 are perfect... they are perfect in their own ways... Project Zomboid mastered the idea of a post apocalypse zombie survival game, with the player base also creating content for the game Rimworld has strong colony management survival elements, and same with PZ, the player base actively works on creating mods for the game Stardew Valley is memorable and very fun considering what its about, you most likely know what the game is, basically a farming adventure survival game, with the game being perfect even without any mods, its a simple game for when you're bored but also want to chill instead of worrying about a game Kenshi has strong post apocalypse survival elements and its ruthless to the player, its a mix between PZ and Rimworld, where you can start as a wanderer trying to survive in a destroyed world, you start as a slave trying to escape from captivity and explore the world, or as any of the default or custom made scenarios... in Kenshi you're not special, you're not some kind of hero that will save the day... you are worthless, its up to you to decide if you will stay that way or if you will build a strong settlement and change the world, for better or for worse Papers Please is one of those games that makes you think "wow... this is amazing...", its very enjoyable and memorable, the characters are interesting and the gameplay is enjoyable, surprising since all you do is look through documents and use stamps... it has some moral dilemmas and emotional moments, but i guess thats what makes it special FNV is one of the if not THE best Fallout game, it has everything you might need in a game like Fallout, the story is intriguing, the factions are interesting, the NPCs are memorable and well written, and the gameplay is top notch... i just thought i should explain the reasons for why i felt like these games were perfect, i certainly recommend Kenshi to anyone that likes PZ or Rimworld, as it is one of my favorite games of all time

I baught this game like 2 months ago. I have over 200ish hours into this and I love this game. The zombies are perfect the way they are is just amazing. Its so simple but it works perfect. You can feel safe but you never truly are. Even if you destroy stairs and its impossible for zombies to reach you they can still mass migrate past your place via meta events or when a helicopter comes (if you have it spawn more then once) also the zombies NEVER give up. If you leave 1 zombie long enough it will bonk on your walls/doors forever untill it breaks. And the sandbox settings are amazing. You can tune so many settings and make it just how you want. When I started I had population on 0.8 I also gave myself 10 bonus points to spend on traits. The traits and occupation system is great. It works very well. But I wish some negative perks where a bit more negative. There are some perks what is just free points and its fine but it also makes it that I always pick that. Overall the game is a 8.5 out of 10 for me. I wish it had some small improvements but there isnt a giant think that bothers me.

Had a nice start on Apoc mode recently. Spawned in police station in Rosewood. Headed to the Fire Station, which was pretty clear of Zeds. Found about 7-8 fireaxes (as lumberjack) and a sledge. Settled down for a few days. Managed to clear almost all of the high street, from Police Station to Gas Station, with one Molly. Next day, I headed to the the book store to get all the books, fully armed in Fire Fighter gear + axe. Headed upto the apartments to watch a mid day tv show. On the way up there was a single zed hanging on top of the stairs in the blind spot between floors. After burning up 100+ zeds I got bitten by 1 sneaky fecker, game over. That's PZ. It punishes complacency and stupid things such as running up stairs. It's not the hordes that get you, it's the loner Zombies that you fail to see/hear or think they will be easy kill. My next game, I start in Muldraugh. I am stuck in the gated residential area and unable to find weapons or a vehicle. I am able to make spears after finding a cleaver and dismantling beds with the low condition screw driver. Although the start was rough, I was forced to change my game and focus on tasks such as ripping and padding clothes. This experience made me a much better player and encouraged me to use new weapons such as crafted spears rather than axes. Finding a crowbar them became not another crowbar, but instead a luxury item. This makes PZ a unique experience every spawn as you never know where you will start and what items will be available, especially in Apoc mode. Awesome game.

The graphics allows for the much much greater depth of the game. It excites me even after my first 500 hours in game and 300 in PVE multiple player. The learning curve is steep and brings back that old gaming style of gluten for punishment. Making you realize "THIS ISN'T A FPS GAME" you don't automatically change a clip and reload 7 bullets in the same amount of time it takes for a quick change. No it's not run and gun. Every bullet is counted for. 30 rounds to make a full mag. Shoot 7 you got 23 left if you change mags. Yes you got a full 30 now but that clip of 23 is now in your inventory. The zombies can hear your gun shots. That's a fast way to make friends of the dead. They also hear your footsteps and looting (at lest i think so for looting.). This game you need to think in terms of how realistic a real zombie apocalypse could be.
@avaliausd. Жыл бұрын
Let's not forget how satisfying the melee combat is. The characters swing so realistically and you feel the weight and impact of your bat or pipe smacking the zombie in the head. @MildarValsik Жыл бұрын
@@avaliausd. they captured the old game play style with well thought out planning of the game play. The games story is to try and place the players mind in the game of how they might react in that scenario. Meanwhile the developers are sitting back laughing as they know their creation is to be more realistic than the rest. So after you go (hey I'm going to make my self)... well I think hell this is fun. I'm making me.... this will be fun... little do we know "it's not going to be easy". Then as you die in game you realize... "well damn they nailed me [this is how YOU died]. Imagine after hitting a few how the tires and undercarriage of the car would react to a few dead bodies. BINGO no wonder why it's hard to push over 4 or more. Those tires be spinning on guts and bones. YOU SMART bastards. That's when you start to realize I need to play this game for real and not like a First person Shooter.

PZ is closest thing I've ever gotten to my "dream" zombie game - huge open world, extremely dangerous non Dead Rising-like zombie hordes and most importantly - one bite and it's over. Oh and not to mention that it's got every possible type of zombie apocalypse you'd want - L4D/28 Days Later infected, TWD's walkers, George Romero's fast shamblers or all of them combined at the same time without any "special infected" stuff (although hope that different body types will become a thing in the future).

I just started playing this game more after buying it in January but never getting the interest, I'm a huge 7d2d fan and this game is incredible! It does so many things better than 7d2d, though my main gripe with Project Zomboid is the inventory system, I'd love for there to be a grid type system inventory mod since imo it would make the looting more interesting, great vid!

You aren't kidding about the overconfidence! I'm a few hundred hours in and started VERY nervously. I would freak out at one zombie and panic and immediately trip up- I finally get to the point that I can take on small hoards and clear residential areas, so I clear a street and I'm casually looting a house. I go through every room, pushing on the doors to trigger banging so I don't get jump scared, and the bedroom door (situated right in front of a railing, effectively cornering me in) has some banging. I literally say out loud to an empty room "alright, I can definitely handle one zombie" and I kid you not, 7 zombies come piling out of the door. I don't know HOW I got away but I left with two bites and had to secure an easier time for my next doomed life. Lasted 14 days- the longest I'd ever gone bar none. Now, of course, the cycle resets and I am afraid of opening doors again haha. Best game ever.

You haven’t even looked at the music mechanics in the game, Like how the music will get more intense the more zombies there are, making the fight more intense Or when you are at low health and even if there is a small amount of zombies it will play the more intense music making you feel like you are still up against the odds because of the low health and/or broken bones ^^

What I love about project zomboid compared to other zombie games. Others: Eat, Sleep, Loot. Repeat the same thing confidently knowing that those zombies can't form a horde and just chase you around. PZ: Eats burnt bacon, ends up getting depressed and die in 2 minutes.

The original Dead Rising and RE4 are my favorite zombie games of all time. Just my personal opinion. But I was a teenager when they came out and grew up with them. It was cool watching the whole zombie trend flourish there for a while. With Dawn of The Dead's Johnny Cash intro and The Walking Dead on TV 📺🧟♂️ those were good times.

Another surprising feature in the game I found out... the hard way, or 2 I suppose. First, making a campfire on a wooden floor will cause fire to spread, probably could have guess that though but more surprisingly, downstairs underneath the campfire with a cupboard with loads of bourbon and wine and once that ignited half the bar exploded and went up in flames, good times

The game is like if you were able to create your own the walking dead show, like people in multiplayer are going to lie about getting bitten and tell that behind the bandage is a laceration, then they would drink bleach behind your back and kill you as a zombie just because they want to restart the server. i found really unique that there is no way to have protection against 2-4 zombies pulling you down to the ground, also do you know that if you get sick the character makes sounds, and those sounds alert zombies, or that is almost imposible to gain weight eating vegetables, you need to eat in a rational way or you are going to get fat, also even drinking one single drop of bleach is going to kill you.

I personally *adore* the graphics of the game. I think that's probably cause of its aesthetic similarities to the first Silent Hill game.
@avaliausd. Жыл бұрын
YES! The simplistic graphics is what really brings the aesthetic together. I don't think a game like this can provoke the same atmosphere with high resolution, Dying Light 2 level graphics. If there is one thing I can say about indie developers, they know how to work the simplist graphic engines into Davinci-level works of art.

It would be interesting if NPC becomes available one day and players decided to make use of it to make a MMO where safe zones exists in multiple areas, but are controlled by faction leaders, and players can align with them, like Fallout style of world building. And then the player engages with other players to co-operate or dominate the server. This requires the server to be very stable and offer a player capacity of like 64 or something, and modding and tools to manage safe settlements... Like for instance military outposts full of NPCs at the outskirt of town where low zombies spawns, and gunshots won't bring a horde in and all that. Turn the game into like a 'STALKER' type game basically where all the wealth and riches are in the dense cityscape.
