VW Scirocco R - New Car Intro & Review

I gave a friend of mine a helping hand in driving his 2012 Scirocco R 46000 km down to a Mazda dealership as a trade in whilst he drove his 2019 Mazda 3 also for a trade in, whilst at the dealership I looked at the going price of the Scirocco on the Market and ask what did the dealership offer him as a trade in and he stated 6k I said not gonna happen so I went down to the bank and gave him the balance of 6k and kept the Scirocco R This was a deal of the year, the vehicle is like brand new Deep Black Pearl with specs through it, I'm so happy with this car.

I am so glad I came across your channel...Great video by the way...I live in Australia and have a Scirocco R...Its such an enjoyable cars to drive especially in sport mode (It seems to wake everything up) Its still pretty rare to see them here compared to Golf (Gti/R) which are everywhere... I would also look at Flow designs as an alternative to Maxton...I think their front splitter is a must with your car being lowered...The long flow kit is similar to the maxton and its not over the top...The extension for the rear spoiler is a cleaner look... They respond well to a tune (on my to do list) as well as a upgraded intake... My only negatives is I find the seat and steering wheel a little to firm on a longer drive...The heated seat are great... I came from a BMW E82 previously which was more comfortable in my opinion... Off to watch you video on the head unit...😊

Its a lovely colour, Iridium Grey? My R is the cheapest option, Urano Grey, a solid, dark (but not quite dark enough!) grey. I love it in certain lights, not so much in direct sunlight or under streetlamps at night. I changed my badges and mirror covers for gloss black, because the silver didn't look right for my colour (plus my OEM wheels were coated black), but you're right about keeping the silver on yours. Compliments the metallic grey beautifully.

I've owned several mk1 Sciroccos I even had a Storm I've always wondered why they never used the name after the mk2 they missed some heritage by not continuing the name on the top model. Thanks for the uploads.

Love the vid, and love the car. Im 21, recently started working after university and i REALLY want a Scirocco R. Im giving my old car away to family anyway, and i was hoping to get something nicer for myself. The only problem is that where i live, tdi versions of this car with dsg go for 20k. I havent found a 2.0 tsi close to a year now, and there has only ever been 3 Scirocco R's for sale here. All with about 60k miles on the dash, and the cheapest R was 27k. This is in euro. I have been trying to find a good deal either here or from the uk for as long as i have been driving, 3 years. I mean, for 27k..... i dont know. There has got to be better options at that price point right? I live in ireland, and importing right hand drive cars doesnt make sense with our taxes and registration fees. I really need some advice about how much a Scirocco R should cost in 2024, and with the budget of around 20k (euro), what other similar cars should i be looking at?

@@SyntaxError-nz4kg hello mate thank you for your comment, the problem is they didn’t actually make that many R’s compared with TSI’s. If you’re going to get a scirocco and you can’t find an R, the next best thing is a facelift GTS, this car has the same engine as a mk7 Golf GTI, it’s the newest and best engine they ever put in a scirocco, 220bhp std, stage 1 285bhp easily achievable. Right hand drive one of those over here he’d probably expect to spend from £13,000 upwards dependent on mileage.. who knows in Ireland though.

That doesn't look 35mm lower than standard. All the R's are already 10mm lower than standard - to take it down another 35 would leave around 10mm gap between the tyre and the arch. Looks like you've got a bit more than 10mm gap there. But heck. Maybe I need my eyes tested. I've got 10mm spacers on mine because the roads round here are crap. With 20's do you find it rubs on the arches?

@@Jamesgarethmorgan hello mate, you’re absolutely right it’s more like a 25mm drop on the R, the springs are the same springs as my GT, on that that car they are a 35mm drop. Spacers, no rubbing at all.

The original head unit on that model was already compatible with apple car play - if it wasn't functional when bought you just needed to give it to a VW dealer for an hour and they would upload the code to make it come alive. VW charge you £250 to do that the thieving bastards. Pre-2015 head units did not have this facility and the only way to get car play on those was to swap the header. So strictly speaking you didn't need to change the header if that's the only reason you did it. And the original Dynaudio unit is known industry wide as one of the best head units fitted to any cars as standard (better than Bose for example). Plus that speaker in the back wrecks the luggage space. But heck. Each unto their own huh?

@@Jamesgarethmorgan thanks for watching, you are right, I’m aware I could’ve activated apple CarPlay , but I already had the headunit so it didn’t cost me anything to install. I also prefer the big display.. And the bass from the sub.
