I don’t have many answers but I do agree with woods on the burn marks, I think when you flipped the paranormal sensors on it tried to activate them all but the electrical units were so old that they fried causing a small internal electrical fire causing the wall to char, you can confirm this by opening up the wall in places that it’s burnt and seeing what they have in common.

Maybe whatever the "ghost" was knew that when matt was about to break the window it knew they were leaving, so it stopped making the noise that wanted to make them leave so it would come back to it.
