the flexi water hoses worry me even thou they are stainless I have seen them rust and burst. As this is going though the electric cabinet I would be leaning towards hard lines. Water and electrics never a good outcome for the electrics. Good to hear the count is back as you were putting the door on

If you are going to make offest or wooden surfaces I suggest don't glue them on, it's just a nightmare taking them off in the future. Mount them with bolts or studs you weld onto the steel plates. In this way they are easily replaced in the future. Yup electrical stuff costs a flipping fortune, at least you have the right stuff now. Keep the episodes coming I am loving watching them as you guys tackle each problem getting closer to final launch day

Depends on what you buy. Wattyl do epoxy and polyurethane two packs which are just as good as Jotun. Distributor is based in Hervey Bay so it’s a pain to go and buy that versus Jotun in town. Both similar price and long lasting

Thanks very much. We often get criticised for not getting it right the first time, but we’ve never met anyone that always gets it right first time so we feel this is more honest which is always our preference
@robm.45126 ай бұрын
@@ProjectBrupeg I’ll second that with pleasure and from first hand experience. Having served as Chief Eng. on a new-build superyacht or three, I can assure anyone who feels the need to criticise that the very best of pro’s don’t always get it right first time every time. Keeps a fella learning though and, in my working life, with the added pressure of having owner or guests aboard it made for a few far too interesting on-the-fly solutions, on occasion. My introduction to the gentle art of being a full time Eng. afloat was the Chief giving me a tour of the vessel’s systems, that finished with his summary of what was expected of the Engineering crew. It went something like, “look here kiddo, everything on a boat is fighting everything else for a place to be and wherever it is that compromise will inevitably make at least half of it a pain in the arse to access. It’s the packaging and cost-benefit problem from hell.” “The yard will have got 95% of the systems perfect, the other 5% is where they ran out of ideas or budget and that’ll always be where our problems reside.” “The trick that we have to pull off without fail is that the Engineering crew should always be like a swan’s feet… Even when something’s approaching a crisis of non-operability we should remain fundamentally invisible and certainly should never give away the fact that we’re thrashing away like demons to keep her moving serenely along.” “That is the way to a happy skipper and a happy skipper is a wonderful and generous thing!” Being owners, skipper, crew, engineer and yard specialists all rolled into just a pair of people and some willing helpers is a tough set of tricks to pull off and get everything right first time, it’s inevitably an iterative process and stuff will happen. Doing it on camera, for all the world to see and being straightforward and honest about the cock-ups is refreshing to anyone who actually fully understands the snags that are inevitable, even on the best funded projects. Hats off to you for sticking to the honest side in telling the story of Brupeg’s rebirth. 😎👍🍻

I really HATE needle guns. Not because they don't work, oh no. I hate them because I (and some others) spent an entire summer hammering rust of a trawler (quite a bit bigger than Brupeg), completely oblivious to the existence of needle guns. And then, a few years later I learned about this magnificent device and that the guy that hired us for the job didn't want to spend extra money on equipment! Just to add insult to injury, this was a research vessel with a fairly substantial government grant, so he wasn't saving anyone any money anyway.
