Thanks to Training Ship Gladstone for a great day on the water. With a big contingent arriving early morning we split into groups and Jess and Dame showed the Cadets the workings of Brupeg then we dropped the mooring we steamed into the busy Gladstone shipping channel.
We had blustery winds and a very busy shipping lane to contend with which was a great experience for the cadets to see just how much information you have to be aware of while at the helm and we did have some drama onboard while steaming, unknown smoke filling the engine room...
What a fantastic group of budding Navy Cadets and of course Baby Cat got lots of cuddles.
Thanks everyone for a great day and thanks to our lovely patreons for making this possible.
Cheers Jess, Dame & Baby Cat

There is a gold wrap called lava rock, it doesn’t have loose fibres like the fibre glass wrap, it also goes on dry and doesn’t go loose.

couldn't you split the insulated piping you are planning to use on the genset and use as a wrap on the main engine exhaust curves

Wow a full boat. Smoke in the engine room could have been a nice training exercise, find the source of the smoke, you might want to include that in some of the advanced training with cadets,

It's not uncommon for civilian craft to take on military or navy designations depending on their use. Does Brupeg get a navy vessel designation while filled with navy cadets?

Australian Navy Cadets are Navy funded but a cadet does not have to sign up as a sailor in the Navy if they choose not to. It is an avenue for a person to join the navy if they want to go that way.

Great experience for the cadets. You cant get that from books or classrooms. A commemorative patch, coin or sticker from Brupeg would be a nice souvenir for visitors. Have you put any more thought in to a rudder angle indicator?

Dame, you're teaching Navy cadets, what's all the 'left and right', should be port and starboard 🤣🤣 Have a word with an industrial heating engineer, they make preformed elbows for steam heating pipes, you wrap insulation around the pipes, then there's a thin aluminium (like tin) preform that goes over the top, it looks really neat
