Hey Guys, Hope you enjoy the Toad Ignition Upgrades!
@moabwheeling1305Ай бұрын
I thoroughly enjoyed your Toad ignition upgrade video Dan! I changed out my cam sensor a few years ago because the factory on was making a knocking sound. Changed it out and problem solved. I also liked the alignment tool it came with also. I got rid of my coil rail and went with the Viper coil mod with Taylor XJ plug wires and love it. This way if I have a problem with a cylinder misfire I can pin point it. Great video Dan God Bless

Acquired a '87 Pioneer last year and have been going over it and making quality of life improvement just as you are highlighting in this series. I enjoyed seeing how you did a ZJ in the past, as I had a Magnum '97 ZJ LTD previously. Workshop to Wilderness, NickInTime, Cherokee Ronnie, DeXJ and yourself provide some great how-to/reference to those who want or love the XJ models. Not to detract from others, I just prefer XJ as it fits my needs. Nor will I detract from any other make as well. Finding parts that can cross over is important. i.e. 2004 Wrangler uses the same heater core as my '87 Pioneer I myself released a silent video with materials and vendor list on noise reduction/insulating my vehicle for reference should anyone be considering doing that. Keep up the great work and thank you.

I wouldn’t suggest the msd coil, I’d suggest the caravan coil pack and bracket and some plug wires. Easier to diagnose problems and the coils are common so it’s easy to replace and cheaper
@ProjectDanHАй бұрын
Yes, the only down side is that they are all 1 unit. It looks Great Tho!
@hoodedgoodАй бұрын
@ the msd and oem coil for the 99-01s like what you installed are 1 unit too

Great video just a little tip if you don't have compression tester but have air compressor and a rubber tipped air gun you can stick it in the spark plug hole if on exhaust tdc you can hear the air blowing out the exhaust manifold and on the compression tdc air will only come out the spark plug hole around the blow gun.

Have you considered restoring a pre 97 XJ?
@ProjectDanHАй бұрын
If I find the right one, sure. I usually aim for 97-01 because I have so many parts already. Lol

clean the markings off first. remove spark plugs, turn the crank to align markings (i usually lay under the front of the jeep.) when aligned reach into plug hole #1 with a probe, small screwdriver or whatever, and feel for the piston. feel nothing? rotate one full rotation. bingo. you can feel again if you want to verify. it really does not need to be a huge production. ive been doing that since i was 13 years old. if you remove a distributor and do not take note of where the rotor is facing you will lose the proper location. note, when inserting the distributer shaft it will rotate to the nearest gear tooth it aligns with. you may need to pull it up and move it back/forward a tooth or 2.

With the camshaft sensor, I recommend pulling the shaft out of the housing and lubricant it at the upper bushing. The top bushing runs dry and wears out or can seize up and damage the gears. I just used a little amount of synthetic grease.

That's an excellent tip. Thank you for sharing

My 97 ZJ , 4.0, 199k miles purrs on Champion coppers....and Rotella T6. Today a guy came into the shop with a Jeep XJ in Lapis Blue ...very cool color...apparently they only made XJ's in that color for 1 year....He said, it has no rust...200k+ miles ... 4.0 ... talk about desirable , he won't sell it.

Are you restoring the Toad to flip it or just for yourself? Also…are you considering adding cruise control to the Toad?
@ProjectDanHАй бұрын
Toad is getting a complete leather interior with cruise control and fog lights from a wrecked limited. The owner is my father
