One thing that I think would be really neat is to do an episode that takes a look at all the previously-completed power tool comparisons, and then to a 'brand' test. That way if you have to commit to a battery system, you can base that decision on many tools vs a single tool result.

That's why I decided to go with Ryobi after having just a cordless drill for many years (two different brands). I decided I was going to go all in on cordless (had previously been a corded fan) and wanted the system that build reasonably good home gamer tools and had a very wide variety with the same battery, from tire inflators to work lights to recip saws. Also I like that Ryobi hasn't changed their battery mount for many years even as they move to newer battery technology - a 20 year old Ryobi tool that shipped with a NiMH battery will take a new LiIon battery just fine.
@BillCarlson
@BillCarlson 3 жыл бұрын
@@John_Ridley Same here. I've got a wall full of Ryobi tools - as this test (and others) have shown that their tools are usually pretty decent, but less than half the price of Dewalt, Milwaukee, or Makita. That means I can have double the number of tools at the same price, which is more important (to me - a DIYer) than making the cuts faster.

I'd love to see a multiple-tool shootout. You know, in case you're going to be purchasing one of those saw / drill / impact combo sets. My cordless tools are all from the same brand, not necessarily because I think it's the best, but once you're invested in a particular battery ecosystem, it doesn't make sense to have to buy multiple chargers and batteries that aren't compatible with one another. So I have a collection of "medium" tools.

Your comment is the very reason I have stuck with soley makita tools in the 18v line up. I like that my batteries fit any of the tools made since 2007 and that the heavier tools just take 2 of the same batteries I already own. I use milwaukee 12v stuff and have been tempted by some of their 18v offerings, but I cannot stand having to buy another set of batteries. For reference, I have 80,batteries in makita and over 60 tools, 50 batteries and 44 tools in milwaukee m12

@Cole Craypo - Because for a hobbyist, Milwaukee isn't cost effective. For the number of Ryobi tools I have, I'd have spent double that money, if not more, buying Milwaukee - and none of my Ryobi's have broken down as of yet. That includes the very first 18 volt drill and saw that I bought, long before Lithium-Ion batteries were the standard for any of them. (I still have _one_ rechargeable NiMH battery left)

That Dewalt saw you tested here is the "FlexVolt Advantage" version, so if you use a FlexVolt battery with it instead of just the plain 20V, it's going to operate at 60V and theoretically be even more powerful. Would love if you tested that too! Thanks Todd!

I bought a cordless Ryobi hedge trimmer that had great reviews. It was substantially less than the Echo gas hedge trimmer I wanted. Needless to say, it only lasted 2 years until the handle broke from constantly getting stuck on 1/4” branches and was a colossal POS. I now own an Echo gas hedge trimmer and I’ll never own anything else. Ryobi is hot 💩 in my book. 🤣 Edit: my grandmother owned a Ryobi gas string trimmer and nobody but me could start the thing. The extra weight from the DeWalt can actually be a benefit, especially when trimming high up branches that you can’t press down against. The weight of the tool does the job for you. And have we heard anything about tools ever being too heavy duty?? Keep in mind, my dad bought me the DeWalt 18V combo kit when I was 19. Everything still works like new. @@requen agreed. I own that saw and it is an entirely different animal with a Flexvolt battery, hence the Flexvolt Advantage labeling.

Congrats first video I have seen where the Dewalt seems to beat Milwaukee Sawzall . ( plenty of others that show the opposite) Milwaukee also was running XC 4.0 battery they could have used HD or the more powerful battery High Output but did not.

@@nycboxing8359 This was not Milwaukee's best saw. Their Super Sawzall has a stronger motor, longer stroke length and orbital. It would have won easily if it was tested.

@@Runco990 I like my dewalt tools because there is a dewalt repair shop and tool store locally. Their warranty is good too, but I've only had to use it once. I was drilling through some 1/2" steel with a 1/2" diameter bit, with my dewalt cordless drill, and when the drill popped through on the 9th or 10th hole, it hung up and broke the transmission. They fixed it in two days, without question, under warranty. So long as I don't try to drill too much at once it's OK.

I have Dewalt and my coworker has Milwaukee and I've sold both for 5 years. I like the Milwaukee overall. The warranty is better and the customer service is easier. The only rrason I have Dewalt is I got a really good deal through work; 2x3.0 batteries, brushed drill/hammer driver, brushed recip saw, charger, and bag for $110.
