That was incredible. Must be quite the feeling creating routes and then sending them.

Inspiring stuff Dave, those are some spectacular moves! I would love to hear your thoughts and considerations when establishing a new route/crag, especially in such a steep overhang. Both strategically as well as esthetically. I, for one, would love to see a long form video on that :) /Long time fan from Sweden. Your presence in the climbing ether, and world, is sorely needed and much appreciated.

Hello Dave, have you bolted these because there were no suitable gear placements ? Would be interested to know when bolting is acceptable or if it is entirely up to you or local ethics on this one. They look a good set of routes and loved the video as always 👍

I'm not sure I've ever done a sport route that couldn't be done on trad gear. It just makes a better sport crag. We tend to decide as a community across Scotland general parameters for this.

@@climbermacleod I've always wondered about the Bunker. It seems a perfect crag for Sport Climbing it just makes me wonder how "on the mountain" a bit of rock has to be to fall under the no bolts in the hills rule.
@climbermacleod3 ай бұрын
@@callumsumsion9261 The Bunker definitely sits close to, or on, the line in the sand, but being 20 minutes up the hill from the road is what tips it towards acceptable.

Pre-ordered. The least we can do in view of all the quality content you give us here for nothing. Will you be dispensing wisdom (and books?) at Kendal again this year?

The harder the climb the less spontaneous the process of climbing it.

I have a question about climbing shoes, are they harmful for your feet? If so why, and are there ways to mitigate the harm they cause?
@fuze41803 ай бұрын
Dave has a video about choosing shoes, it goes into sizing and shape. Vid uploaded a while back now but sound like you would benefit from a watch
@MrWill8303 ай бұрын
Hello, no they're not harmful in themselves. Although, I'd add that someday you'll want some pretty snug shoes to stand on your very tippytoes with, to get maximum value from those very small edges. Add to that the repeated attempts, and you're likely to get bunions or heel callous at some point
@masterpropper24853 ай бұрын
Depends on how much time you spend in climbing shoes. Think about stuffing your feet into shoes that are actually too small to be comfortable - and then think about how healthy this is for your feet. There you go.

They’re bad for your feet. But not as bad as being unable to make the smear on your project is for the soul.
