I have been to the Islands 7 times and when I'm not there I go in my thoughts. For the past few years I listen to Hawaiian music every morning to start my day peacefully. Aside for my love of your land, I love the culture and hope that you continue educating us, non Islanders ,about it. This song and the performance is spectacular. Thanks for posting it.

I returned from THE BIG ISLAND last night .. my 8th trip and can't wait for my next one..It is Paradise for my wife and me..I'm too set in my ways to physically move there , but I am there mentally all the time. It is a "brain vacation" for us to escape there and be a "guest of the Island". While we are there we get no phone calls(we don't ever text), no mail, and no contact with the outside world. If I lived there I think that it would not be our "Great Escape".

I'm not Hawaiian, but from Guatemalan descent...our cultures share many values and I hope these younger generations don't forget where they came from! I was born in the US, and my dad loves how proud I am to be Guatemalan and to speak the language and talk about the land my blood is from without shame. Awesome project and great collaborative effort, I'm not sure what is going on with the release of these songs but hopefully they will be either online or in a CD. I was sorry to hear of the passing of Rebecca Leinaala Kalama Paiaina Heine in September. You can tell on this track she sang with such love of Hawai'i and was a wonderful human being in all that she did for the community and the aina. Very proud of this effort and we should all live Kuleana both individually and collectively as Leinaala did.

Nearly 40 years ago, a man known as Unko Kaimana from “the west side band” on Kauai including unko Bambi Unko Clyde Unko boy and more. WROTE AND COMPOSED this song on a beach named Pakala.. unko kaimana wrote many songs that other artists of Hawaii sing as their own… this is one of them. Sadly he passed away too early and never had the chance to share his music to all of Hawaii.. he asked my dad Unko Bambi and his relatives to do all they can for people to hear his voice through the people. This song was his final prayer for us that we be AURAI!
