Only in North America. Super Mario 64 2 in Japan was Super Mario 74 in 1997, but was left in Japan like Lost Levels for being too hard, especially the unlockable Extreme Edition mode. Also there was "The Missing Stars" add on exclusive for the DD.

The true SM64 2 EDIT: List of highlights I love about this :) Seeing Mario walk up the station at 1:12:00 and getting that star from shooting out of the cannon, with that long pause, was so dang satisfying to watch... 1:34:30 reminds me too much of that ending section of Corona Mountain 44:20 legit reminds me of that Spongebob episode with the drain... xD 4:29:04 Mario moving to the music while looking down the hole. Even Mario knows this music slaps!

This is what you call a true masterpiece. 15 amazing courses and 3 amazing boss stages. Several power-ups, new programmed enemies, and even new programmed bosses! The difficulty is ranked up a notch, and it’s all perfect! Good god This would go great for a sequel! My favorite courses are Rainbow Road and Colossal Circuits. This rom hack is extremly beautiful and breathtaking. :)

What made the game too frustratingly difficult was the level size alongside its excessive amount of tight platforming and gimmicks, and on top of that, the player is reduced to 6 health. I spent days trying to grind out every star before resorting to save states. As impressive as this mod is, it's too difficult for me to desire replaying it.

This isn’t even a hack anymore. This is like an actual professional game. With just a few minor changes and polishing, this could make a worthy sequel to Mario 64. Also, I notice some elements are similar to Super Mario Odyssey. Funny thing is, this hack was released before Odyssey. Brilliant.

With graphics like this, this could've easily worked on the N64. If it were a compact disc based console at the time. Then again, Nintendo at that time didn't have their own semi conductor factories capable of producing such technology for themselves; like Sony did at the time. So that would've been a bit of a problem regardless.

Far and Away the best looking Mod created. They understand the beauty of the levels and powerups like no one else could capture. Others may have better camera and mechanics but no where near fell like an authentic Mario experience

This is how I think it would play out in an alternate universe Mario 64 comes out in 1996, and gets 2 expansion packs using in 1997, star road and green stars, then last impact is released as a n64dd launch title in 1999

In a parallel universe, this is a real N64 game. It's called "Super Mario 64: Chapter 2" and it was released in 1998, four months before the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which also got the URA expansion that included a new dungeon (Sky Temple). That version was released in 2001 and was the last major N64 title.

Of all the SM64 rom-hacks I've seen, this is by far the BEST! My sentiments the same as the other repliers. For almost as good, I'd say: Super Mario 64 Multiplayer (where you can play as both Mario and Luigi at the same time in a split-screen), Super Luigi 64 (although I'd prefer without the Luigi's Mansion ghost-vacuum on his back), and Super Mario 64: Sonic Edition (game remade into a Sonic The Hedgehog game, coins replaced with rings, and other changes to make it seen it's actually a Sonic game).
