Thanks for providing this video, I never bleeded the ABS before in all my cars. But you made it look easy. Thanks again.

Question about bleeding the ABS, will the foxwell machine prompt you to bleed all 4 abs or just the back right and front right? Because when it said to bleed ABS on the back right, you also bled the back left immediately without the machin telling you so. Also, It told u to bleed the ABS on the front right, then immediately bleed the front left. Or was it because to shorten the video? Thank you so much! Yes i also understand of bleeding all 4 again for the normal bleed.

There are a few different brake bleeding routines in the NT 510 Elite. One of the routines steps you through the use of a pressure bleeder which is kind of redundant. Why does anyone need a diagnostic tool to instruct them on using a pressure bleeder ? The other routine requires the diagnostic tool to trigger the ABS unit in order activate inlet /outlet valves in order to replace air pockets with fluid. In this process you are supposed to do a manual bleed first using a pressure bleeder and then follow up with the ABS routine. A - bleed lines manually with pressure bleeder ( Since you emptied a lot of fluid when replacing a brake line, you skipped part A ) B - bleed lines at the same time as activating ABS unit ( You only completed three lines. You didn't activate the ABS for one line ) C - bleed lines manually with pressure bleeder ( You completed four lines ) As far as I know, the reason the NT 510Elite directs you to the wheel to bleed is so the ABS unit can activate the corresponding valves. Therefore, when the NT 510 Elite directs you to the right rear , its because the ABS unit will only activate the valves for the right rear. One of the issues when a brake system is emptied is air gets in the ABS unit and is hard to bleed out manually. If you bleed all your lines with bubble free fluid and your brake pedal is still soft or goes to the floor, it can be attributed to air in the ABS unit. ( Often a sinking pedal is due to a malfunctioning Master Cylinder but air in the ABS can have the same effect as a malfunctioning Master Cylinder )

Awesome instructional video! I don’t have power bleeder, can I still flush the ABS Use vacuum pump brake kit with Foxwell instead? If can, should I keep the reservoir cap unscrewed ? Thanks! :)

I would follow the directions on your vacuum pump. I’ve never tried it that way so i don’t know the answer

You should invest a few dollars in a longer bleed tube and a soda bottle to capture all the old brake fluid so it doesn't make a mess and drip everywhere.
@pmcd1 Жыл бұрын
Hi, you need to remove the old fluid from the reservoir first, with a suction pump or turkey baster

Its written everywhere else including in the Foxwell instructions that the brake system should be bled before starting the ABS pump bleed. ( I have the NT 510Elite and a 2005 MINI R53 ). Also, more interesting and confusing is the NT510Elite does not instruct us to keep the brake pedal engaged the whole time we are bleeding the ABS unit whereas, the NT630Elite requires the brake pedal to be engaged. What do you know about this ?

@@ProjectMini Yes, I just cannot hear it. It must be in the cap that attaches to the reservoir. Also can you explain bleeding the ABS and the Foxwell tool again slowly. For some reason I find it almost impossible to scroll the video back on KZbin

Just changed all my brake lines, need to bleed the brakes, can I do the old fashion way, with a helper on brake pedal and me bleeding caliper nipples? Do I have to use scan tool or brake pressure bleeder like yours? Thanks

Many people, including myself, have failed at using the two-person bleed process so a power bleeder is required. I like the other mfg (not Motive) but either will work.
@raymondjiii2 жыл бұрын
I should have added that - two person bleeding has always worked on every car I have worked on UNTIL the Mini. I don't know why the two-person process does not work but I was never able to get all of the air out on the first wheel. Seems like it was sucking air back in somehow. I've owned this power bleeder for 20 years and only used it once until I worked on the Mini.

You end up with air in the fluid to begin with pouring it like that .
