I think the best gift is to be yourself and be a pleasant experience to folks at Burning Man...My bucket list.

This applies so much to more than just Burning Man. This is just a good philosophy in general.

I go to a different festival and this is still good advice even for a festival that isn't quite as large. Last year I was at a Music Festival called Electric Love in BC, Canada and one of the main things I was gifting people was makeup that glows under the blacklights, and I wasn't just giving them the makeup like "good luck doing it yourself" I mean more in that I was sitting them down at my makeup station and putting it on their face using my pre-sanitized tools. They loved it, and I got to have fun. Also I bought a big thing of hand sanitizer, and before the festival seperated it into a ton of little flip cap bottles, so I could keep those in my backpack and give them out if someone was trying to find one after using the porta potty, and the one in there is all out.

Thank You for the gift of your experiences in all these videos. This year is going to be my first burn and I've been doing all sorts of research since last September. In just a couple of weeks you've covered a good portion of months of searching around! I don't know if you have another 100+ days worth of videos planned but you're creating a great resource for future burners to learn from. Thanks again!

Thankyou so much! Your kind words really made my day. I'm so glad that my videos are helping. You must be so excited for your first burn!!! I'm hoping to do the full 100+ but not sure if I'll have run out of idea by then haha. Thankyou :)

I am extremely excited for my first burn! And since this video was about gifting, here's the first prototype of what I'll be gifting to people. Hand cut, sanded, wood burned, and stained. i.imgur.com/zr4zcM5.jpg

Wow! That's so cool! It would make such a cool keyring for after Burning Man as well. Great idea I really want to try out wood burning I bet you can make some really gorgeous things. I've been making some little tuxedo lighter necklaces i.imgur.com/JjtYE87.jpg

I didn't even think of that but you're absolutely right, it would fit perfectly on a keyring! Your little tuxedo lighter necklaces are awesome! Is that cut electrical tape to make the design? Very creative :)
@projectpterodactyl817 жыл бұрын
Yes they're done with electrical tape. I haven't done them before so I'm not so sure how well they'll hold up in the heat so I'm going to leave them next to my boiler for a bit to see if they're ok. I've seen some really cool ones done with string so I might try and make some of those as well :)

A tip i learning while doing roofing, in extremely hot environments do not drink ice cold water. It can cause cramps, send your system into shock. A safer way to consume water in hot environments is cold/room temp water.

So I have an idea for something I want to do as my gift. It will work fine to just give out to people but i was wondering, would it be rude if I also said something along the lines of "if you want, you can personalise your gift by telling me a story." Cause its kind of like asking for something in return. As long or short as they want. Real or fantsy. Just something that they want to tell or thats on their mind. And then tailor the gift to their story. make it more personal. I dont want to give my gift away. Its not super original or anything but I like the idea. What do you think? If that makes no sense pls let me know and ill try and explain better
@a.a.22646 жыл бұрын
Tomas Mckenzie tell each person your like to give them a gift with personalization. tell them that personalizing it includes the following and list what you want to do. then ask if they’re comfortable with that. if they say yes, give it with personalization. if they say no, give it without or don’t give it. i always ask people if they want a gift before giving it...not everyone has had good experiences receiving gifts because they can come with emotional attachments/expectations from givers. just be mindful of that and communicate clearly your intentions and people will appreciate you.

I'm a virgin. Hope it's not going to overwhelm me. I'm not in a theme camp, any suggestions where I'll set up? If you see me, say hi and have a bite to eat. I'm Johnson Farms.
@projectpterodactyl817 жыл бұрын
Hi Johnson Farms! It really depends on what you're looking for, if you want a spot that's out of the thick of it then the outer rings are a good choice, the closer you get to the centre the more hectic it is. If you want to be able to sleep at night (or just not get overwhelmed by the constant thump thump of must) then it's best to stay away from the big sound camps, although there's always a possibility that a smaller noisy camp will end up pitching up nearby! Making sure you're near some port-a-loos is a good idea, but not too close otherwise you'll be able to smell them from your camp and you'll be stuck listening to doors slamming constantly which can get irritating really fast! Will def come say hi if I catch you out there!

does a condescending youtube explanation about gifting count as a gift? :-P
@a.a.22646 жыл бұрын
Jon Harrold she’s not condescending. i think you might be misreading this based on whatever you’re projecting from your own life that may include too many people that condescend you. cut her some slack...she’s sharing. she may be commercializing it, but it’s already commercialized...don’t blame it on her.
@SunnyGirlFlorida6 жыл бұрын
That is your own version of the truth. Listening to it, I didn't get the least hint of her being condescending.
