Iam really really proud that Barathanatyam was originated in Tamilnadu... and the divine Nataraja statue is a gift from the Great Chola Kingdom.... I also proud that we Tamil people saved this culture with its originality from any foreign invasion for many centuries.... I also ask people that please support our ancient cultural artists who are still maintaining the soul of our Bharath.... Om Namashivaya.....🙏

🤪👍when scholars of rest of planet were using mode of education such as discourse, writings, stories, plays, it's amazing to know that along with those methods, Slokas and movements of body( roughly dance) used scientifically to educate ( not entertain) masses👍👍 never thought, scientific info can be put in sloka form, Slokas are well assimilated in mind than theorms. This helps in development of known knowledge.👍👍

I'm from garhwal region of Uttrakhand and under garhwali fock there are several type of natyam or dance form like tandi ,thadya, chofla, jhumelu ,raanso chopati and many more ,most of them are group dances. And theatrical forms are paandav Leela, chakrbyuh, kamalbyuh ,ramleela, and stories of ancient kings of garhwal ( all are theatrical expressions).

As usual excellent work... Just to add... 12:10 yavanas who were greeks settled in ancient bharat...becuz ancient bharat had huge trade relations with greeko-roman world...which we know through the roman coins found in temples...these yavanas settled in the north western regions of gujrat...and we know still we can find poeple who are fair with brown beard... Good that you didn't imposed your opinion in this video and excepted that you lack research in this topic...so glad to hear this almost every content creator imposes opinions as fact... Keep your excellent work on... Namaskar🙏🙏

CORRECTION - Karanas are NOT static poses, they are a short series of movements combining limbs, torso and head to make a moving dance piece. Its why you are seeing 4 arms which represent the first and last movement of each Karana. Bharat Muni's Natyashastra, although appearing highy detailed, is actually lacking in practical instruction to perform these Karana's. There are scholars who have done extensive research and have had to visit the temple sites where the sculptures of these Karana's are present and also taken further notes from Abhinava Gupta's work on the Natyashastra to piece together the missing information from the shastra to present the Karanas as we see them today. Also stated incorrectly here is that the 108 Karanas form the basics of Bharatanatyam. This is not true as Bhatanatyam along with all the other classical dances of India only use up to 5 of these Karanas. Very few dancers have learnt the Karanas and there is no one that has mastered all 108 Karanas that I have heard of today. You also didnt mention the first chapter on the detailed instruction for the construction technique and structural rules and ritual to building the theatrical playhouse. I am classical Indian dancer who has read the Natyashastra.

Everything was going fine and then he made a common mistake. Karana is not a static posture but a dynamic movement. There are many reasons to suffice but most important ones are that one of the major elements of Karana is a Chari (movement of the entire lower body) along with Nritta Hastas (Movements of the hands) and Sthanakas. Secondly, Abhinavaguptacharya in his commentry on Natyashastra calls it a combination of Sthiti & Gati, station and movement respectively. Number three, It suggests motion and hence it is no wonder that it is the very name of a treatise on the motion of planets by Varahamihira. And also, it's a fallacy that modern Bharatanatyam is the mother of all classical dance forms.

Excellent documentary about Bharat Natyam. But failed to explain the connection to the Universal phenomenons like the planetary motions or the movement of an electron around the nucleus. Also it did not explain how Bharatnatyam is related to the Natraj''s power of creation and destruction.

Just a note to your readers. I have witnessed many Spanish Gipsy Dances and it was very surprising to find so many similarities, to our Barath Natyam. Perhaps Lord Shiva's mission to unite the world is still in play.

Romani/Gypsy are Indian from North West India..Mostly from Rajasthan,Gujarat,Sindh and Punjab..They were taken as slave by Turks and Arab during Islamic invasion in India. .They were sold in slave markets of Baghdad and Istanbul.later they ended up in Europe. Flamenco dance form of gypsy in Spain is twin sister of Indian classical dance form. .Kathak reached Spain via Rajasthan,Baluchistan,Persia,Arab, Egypt etc became Flamenco..The soul remain same but acquired many flavours on it's route..

Hello at the time of 03:15 of the video you said sarwavarnikam as it meant for all people but it has another meaning my mother tongue is TELUGU so sarwavarnikam means it “can explain everything “ in the form of art. So I think this can be a good explanation than varnas and stuff.
@srikanthpolisetty74762 жыл бұрын
Sarvavarnikam means "for people of all varnas". You can look up for translations of Natyasastra by Sanskritists.
@nandanandana93472 жыл бұрын
It is possible that what you commented about 'sarva varna'...but it is more possible 'not' because then a more appropriate expression is 'sarva matrukam'.
