As a kannadiga I would like to thank you. Like these many ancient books are there in Kannada literature. It's our job to protect the language. If today Kannadigas says to learn Kannada please do consider it. Kannada language has books from ancient times. In schools there were lessons from Halagannada (old Kannada). If people start learning Kannada they will understand the importance.

Kannada (and telugu) has the greatest writing system among all languages. Let me give some context - I am a Taulava kannadiga (I.e a kannadiga whose mother tongue is tulu). I can speak Tulu, kannada, Tamil, Hindi and English. I understand telugu and malayalam very well. Similarly, I can write in Kannada, Hindi, English and Tulu script (And hence malayalam script - they are similar). I know how the tamil alphabets works, though I can't write or read tamil. None of the other languages have same kind of ease and sophistication as that of Kannada/Telugu alphabets. Kannada alphabets are hands down the most developed writing system out there.

It got royal support from Kadambas who were the first Kannada Kings to use Kannada as administrative language. They minted coins in Kannada. It was called as Old Kannada script When Kadambas ruled Goa, they introduced old Kannada script there and it became the first official script of Konkani language, it was called as Goykanadi script. It was further used by Chalukyas and when they ruled Telugu land as Vengi Chalukyas, they spread the same script throughout Telugu land. The same script was used for both languages till the end of Vijayanagara empire. After the fall of Vijayanagara empire, scripts started separating. Few changes happened in both scripts and finally two independent scripts emerged for Kannada and Telugu.

Being a Kannadiga, I feel these characteristics are shared by all Indian languages that have roots in Sanskrit which have classification of letters in the form of swaras, vargeeya vyanjana, avargeeya vanjana, etc.

Wow that was very helpful, as a kannadiga I am intrested in reading Halegannada Poems, mostly written using kanda pandya, which includs guru and lagu as you explained in the video, but I never knew it has this much of significance, I will definitely to do more research on this, very thanks, and can I have the link or name of the background music you are using please, it is so captivating, I can't seem to get over it.
