What does SNT stand for? - The story of how I created my Sonic OC

Man, Idk why but I'm in the same situation as you in regards of keeping a name a friend who passed away gave me. Back in my early teen years, I had a friend who introduced me to anime such as Inuyasha, Naruto, etc. We drew our own original/fan characters and she called me Shinana. It's a name that stuck that I gave to my OCsona and FC for DBZ. *TW: Student/Teacher relationship, Gun & Suicide* About almost 9 years ago, my friend who had moved away to pursue her dream job and go to college started a complicated and forbidden relationship with a married man who was her professor at her college, and he was twice her age. I'm not sure on the entire details but I'm sure he lead her on, her being young and naive. He gave her a gun for protection due to the neighborhood where my friend lived. Well when the professor chose to stay with his wife, my friend fell into despair and with the same gun he gave her, she took her own life. So I keep the name Shinana for sentimental value because giving it up would feel like a disrespect to her memory.

I would like to think we all have our own characters that we've held close to our hearts for years. Before I say anything else, as someone who almost lost thier mom in a horrible car accident because of a irresponsible driver, I feel for you. Me and my sister were thankfully not in the car and my mother survived. I couldn't image what it would've been like to loose her like that. I hope Jacob is in peace. My original character I've had for a long time would be the one in my profile picture. Her name is Chara Paige Hails. I created her when I super into Undertale (Hence the name "Chara") but I've never had the heart to change her first name because of what she represents to me as a fictional character. She grew up with me- she was essentially the "Chara from Undertale" with a personality for roleplay purposes. Now that I'm older and have taken an interest in creative writing, she's no where near the Undertale fan character she used to be. She lives in her own universe, has a developed story, a developed personality and such. She's just really important to me and the name "Chara" just stuck. I don't ever plan on changing it. I've tried "Cara" and "Kara" but those didn't seem right. She's been through so many design changes and has been with me throughout my childhood and now she's staying with me till adulthood. I'll never let her go. Edit: Spelling and grammar mistakes

When I first got into sonic X, I had a very similar oc. Female, blue hedgehog, named Sonya, except she had the same hair as Amy, without the bangs she had, she had Straight across bangs. But wore a crop top and low rise jeans. She was also biologically made 😭 I should draw her sometime, she’s still important to me since she’s technically my first character :) First characters always have an impact, I’m glad yours had the one it did though. In memory of a friend, and now continues to live in the memories of more.

SNT does sound better than SKT, plus it makes it a bit more misleading and less on the nose about her origins which to me is a bigger plus. Also the purpose of keeping it in the memory of someone that passed away that birthed the name idea is not at all complicated and very kind and cool, so it's nice to see it have an outside purpose, and I am sorry for the loss.

Thank you for sharing the complicated answer with us. It’s not easy to talk about the death of loved ones, especially loved ones that made huge impacts on our lives but passed away so suddenly. My cousin, who I used to create stories with, also died at a relatively young age of 16 in 2021. We used to roleplay all the time with My Little Pony toys…and those were some of my favorite childhood memories. She inspired me to be creative and encouraged me to start animating. I still wish I could have spent more time with her. But I’ll never regret the silly stories we made and the sisterhood we had 💜
