@ShadowfinderMusic6 ай бұрын
@@judepayne9638 It's free to differ but there's no comparison as to the brilliance of Prokofiev. Mahler's symphony 2 is an exercise in standard composing, whereas Romeo and Juliet explores the boundaries of creativity and lushness.

Prokofiev The Destroyer blowing up every Classical form he can get his hands on (with a Smile of course, the scamp) If you were raised/performed the likes of Back, Beethoven, Chopin, Rach and you get to Prok, it's like mouthwash for your brain. So yummy. Scratches that itch you just can't reach. The Atonal Camp like Schoenberg are just rearranging the rubbled Prok made! I LOVE PROKOFIEV!!!! This guy was so audacious/mischievous he named a collection "Sarcasms" ...and then there's that G# after all those white keys!

Wow I had no idea that familiar opening theme came from this suite! This is really good although I’ll have to listen to it some more and compare it with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet which is also amazing, Happy 25th anniversary!

Sergei "pinched " the second theme from his Classical symphony - one of the most enchanting works I know. It was used in a TV series I worked on in the 1970s "The Boys of Flaxton Hall" Altogether a real pleasure to listen to - although a little surprised at how serious the players were, I smile most of the way, despite the sad story. :-)
@paulybarr2 жыл бұрын
Orchestral players generally don't smile -it's called concentration. Just as we tend not to smile during states of sexual arousal. there are some things we do in this life that give us enormous pleasure, but that we do without grins on our faces...
