Mister Stan I have a question ,I have been watching your posts for over a year, and in one of them you guys mentioned the name of a Greek fellow artist that the US department of education, had him draft a drawing manual .. I can't remember which video that was in ..🙏 can you remember his name, I'm pretty sure it was you that threw the name in to the conversation. I lost my laptop in which I had the specific info and I don't know why but that type of scribbling I like

i think its kind of like the posterize effect in Photoshop where it reduces the values down to light, dark mid-tone and with the lines you use thin lines (sometimes even no lines) for where there is more light on an object and thicker lines for heavier shadows. Also you can graduate the line width with pen pressure or using brush pen and drawing at different speeds. Would be very good to see in a video though

It's so fascinating, listening to Ryan. 20 minutes is too short, I would pay him a drink in a bar and listen to him all night long. :) It's funny, Jim Lee's X Men is the first comic I bought with my own money back in the days, and it was a huge punch in my face. 25 years later, it's still a huge influence for me.

@floatingdisembodiedhead8975
@floatingdisembodiedhead8975 Ай бұрын
There's a little backstory why some people called him that. "David" is his middle name or maybe it was Bruce. Stanley always had trouble remembering names, hence why most of his creations has alliterative names to make it easy, like Peter Parker or Reed Richards. Although evidently he still has trouble with it. One day he forgot Bruce's name and just called him David Banner in the comics. So when a reader asked him about this he said that his full name is Bruce David Banner, hence why it stuck for people who were from the older generations.

Proko and Ryan, thank you so much for making this video, it’s so helpful and inspiring! I have a few questions (I doubt that Ryan will be able to answer them, but if there are any other comic artists in the comment section, perhaps you could help, please?) 1) When it comes to illustrating the panels, do you draw them all on a larger scale and then crop them to fit the box, or do you draw directly into the panel layout? 2) Do you ink traditionally or digitally? Any experiences with both methods? Which is better, and why? 3) Do you have any advice for artists? I am an Illustration degree student, but I am wanting to improve my drawing skills all the time- are there any exercises you could recommend or resources? 4) Do you have any advice for publishing your own comics/ graphic novels, or best places to share them? 5) At 08:42, you say you can “ink them white”; do you mean this literally, ie using white ink, or do you mean leaving the page white? 6) What materials can you recommend? I use the same graphite pencils and they’re the best I’ve ever used, but what paper is best that is smooth but can hold ink without warping? What brand is the red pencil (am I correct in guessing Prismacolor?) 7) What do you like to draw for fun, or do you not have it as a hobby anymore? 8) What are your favourite comics? Do you still enjoy reading them?
