I love love love what you're doing! I would add that formal formulation training is also an option. I was in the Formula Botanica program for Organic Formulation. It's self paced. There are a few other programs as well. It really makes that brainstorming phase a lot easier.

Great tips. I have a question: I have a formula for a body wash that I worked on very hard and finally came up the way I wanted. I made several batches a few months ago and they’re all great. After a few months I needed to replenish some scents and I’m using the same formula and recipe but the body wash doesn’t thicken. I use glyceryl oleate to make the viscosity I want but it seems to not be working well to formulate in the warm weather. Is that such a thing? I can’t think of anything else that could be wrong.

Formulating can be very tedious 😩 Would you say that it’s better to use dried herbs as a powder form in your water phase, or using the actual herb, straining, then using the infused water? @@mariea2277 Hey, no but over the years I’ve been formulating more and found that buying and using the extracts (ex. Hibiscus Extract) are better. They don’t oxidize like the powders and water infusions do.
