We have 3 safes where I work. We just started using the time delay one. I'm sorry but I don't see how pissing off a man with a gun to my head is a good idea. I just don't picture me saying "it'll be a few minutes due to a time delay on our safe" and the gun man saying "oh OK, can I get a beer while I wait?" It's dangerous, and obviously, they didn't have the cashiers safety in mind when they came up with this stupid idea!! They did however have their "bottom line" in mind. Well when they step over the cashiers bullet ridden body to get the money out of the safe, I hope the owners are pleased with their decision !

The value of time delay is to deter robbery. A very important component of this deterrent is to ensure that a label is affixed to your store's front door advertising to would-be robbers that this safe cannot be opened immediately by any employee as it has a time delay. The theory being that the robber would then elect to go somewhere other than your store as they know the longer they are in the store the greater the likelihood of capture or failure. If your store doesnt have this label i would highly recommend it.
