I sell on ebay and can comment on the CPU being defective. Most likely what happened was the seller pulls a bunch of CPUs and doesn't really thoroughly check each one. They used vague language like "Pulled from a working system" to make the buyer think it is working even though they do not directly state that the CPU is working and know that a few of them will likely not work. When buying used CPUs you should look for a very direct "Tested as working" as "Pulled from a working system" doesn't mean anything at all and gives the seller a huge out plan. This should be a nice system when it's finished.

+Ghost 227 tapping a CPU like that won't brick it... If so Intel would have countless bricked CPUs back for warranty. I have delidded 3 chips already where the chip has gone flying through the air and crashed into the wall and all 3 times the chips have worked perfectly fine. This chip was fried from the previous owner from hardcore overclocking, will upload the photo of the burnt pads on the bottom before I sanded it down.

I like watching this kind of videos, are fun to watch and I learn a lot from them, very good stuff. I think the motherboards should be thicker, and have a replaceable part, for example the Chip area to be replace, so they can switch chips and make it easier to be compatible with all kinds of chips.
@TheRealEZOverdose

everyone asking what type of liquid hes spraying it with - most likely contact cleaner. the only problem with this is it can make a sticky mess with certain kinds of flux leftover from manufacturing which will be worse than when you started. scrubbing with 99% alcohol and a clean toothbrush or paint brush is almost always easier and more effective, but more time consuming

Got a old inwin v500 case from the loading dock at my local electronics recycling plant free and picked up a 750wat thermaltake power supply a 7870ghz edition gpu and a 500gig samsung hardrive for $100 and got a stock cooler from my friends 8350 for free to cool it. 1) You can get a Dell T3500 workstation for 50-70$.. (Ebay is crowded with these) - Case - Motherboard - 525W PSU - 16Gb ram - Intel Xeon W3550 @ 3.07GHz (This or lower) 2) Get a refurbished 240Gb SSD for 50-55$ (Ebay is crowded with these too) 3) And then get a Radeon HD 7870 for 60-70$ (Alternatively a 40-50$ Nvidia GTX 480(200W) if you feel lucky with the PSU) SUMMARY: So.. 140-195$ (100-155$ excluded the shipping) depending on luck and preference. But very easy PC to buy off of ebay and put together at home.

If you think about it, only those that can afford it can deal with used parts going bad. If you're hurting enough in cash flow you kind of need this to work for a long time if need because who knows when you'll get some more money. Something to think about. A guide with new parts would be great.

+Tech YES City For muscle soreness / strains. etc. try to find some Tincture of Arnica. You can find it on the internet. I have been using it as needed since I was a wee boy (62 now). It's sort of an old farm remedy but it does work well. It is not hot or anything in fact it is a liquid. When you apply it you notice nothing but give it some time (hours) and it really loosens you up and stops the aches. I usually use it before bed and / or first thing in the morning. Put it in a small spray bottle for easy application.

How much does the windows os software cost in Japan? need to add that to the total budget. Also - given that you have suffered from a couple of dodgy deals with the i5s, is it possible to track down reliable / trustworthy dealers in Japan (ones that offer refunds for dead components) and then deal with those rather than taking the chance with unknown dealers? Fun video I'm interesting in seeing those benchmarks when you get the new cpu installed.

+MrQ Ball Yeah they all do the no claim no return, but still they shouldn't mislead like that, I don't mind the people who are like "I have no idea, as is", as for new parts, yeah kakaku.com is good, but i usually use tsukumo / amazon as they have the best prices / warranty / returns policy, oh and sofmap too when they have sales. Offline you can hit up your hard offs / wonder rex if you have them or other used places like city name kanteidan / random used stores (I find the random used stores can someone have really good deals)..

Has the motherboard firmware ever been updated sometimes that makes a CPU work. Though then again I bet they just hate I5's over there. I wish I could find some original Intel 2011 CPU's I have an old 3820 sandy bridge E CPU. My only reason for wanting to replace it is that apparently according to intel it only support PCI express 2. My motherboard has PCI express 3. I don't think its much of a bottleneck but who knows. Still its one strong old bastard of a CPU still plays everything fine. I have it watercooled with a kit from XSPC I think its the raystorm block with a 240mm rad. bay res combo with 7.62 inch tubing. Performs better than the Corsair h100 at least there is no more grinding pump.

Mixing 3 different RAM sticks should never be done, ESPECIALLY if there are 4 RAM slots. Use 2 OR 4 of the exact same type, preferably from a kit so they are verified by the manufacturer to work together.

***** Actually that's not how it works at all. Sometimes you get lucky and they work together out of luck. I have had 2 identical sticks from 2 different kits not work together before. They worked with their own kit, but not with each other.

With same success i can take used parts from my friends and declare it 0$ console killer. But it won't 'kill' anything, because it will barely run medium quality for the next year.
