I have just finished making this mat. I used a white nautical rope and am giving it to my friend who has a seaside cottage. I know she's going to absolutely love it. This type of rope I used will not be suitable for a hot pad but will look great on her coffee table to hold a centerpiece. Your video is perfect. I had to stop, start, pause and go backwards many times but I finally got it!!! Thank you so very much. It will be a lovely gift for my friend. Sharon from New Brunswick, Canada. :o)

Your new tutorials are great, as with your other channel, Paracord Guild. You seem to have an issue with color balance, though. The overall color temperature is quite warm. maybe it's just my eyes, but they feel a bit strained watching these. You're always my hero, Mark. Thank you for making these.

I really liked your tutorial for the prolonge mat-rope hot pad, but I was wondering if there is a way that it could be made about 4½ - 6 feet long? I mean other than repeating the pattern over and over.

Can you make this one but really really large.. like a table runner ? Please , please. :)

Mark has shown how to increase the length on this video. Simply don't do the last bight (loop) to finish it off and follow his instructions to make it longer. After you have done that, do that again and again and again till you have the length required. Then finish off by adding the last bight (loop) that then follows the other end to double or triple up. Obviously, more length will require more rope!

I s there a method to making the mat wider also? I am trying to make a mat that is 14 x 20 inches.

Hey! I have not seen a way of increasing the width so far. If you want, I can make a tutorial on a wider mat though. Mark

I'd love to see one. I have been trying to find a way of making this type of mat to any specific size. I have an antique hall bench that is backed by a coat rack. The seat is designed to be seated to easily put your boots on. I would love to put a mat of this style on it. That is where I came up with the dimensions above. It would not have to be a square but length and width are important.

Mark the braider, but 6 mm is the thickness of the rope?

Can we start the mat from center and extend it as big we like
@chrismatthewson93463 жыл бұрын
See my reply above: Mark shows how to make it longer, just do that before the finishing of loop and do it again and again to make it as long as you want.

What kind of rope fiber is safe for hot pots?
@zoejay4 жыл бұрын
Sisal should be fine.
@chrismatthewson93463 жыл бұрын
Most natural fibres can cope with a hot pan but not open flame. (If white cotton it may discolour over time, so brown rope will hide it better) Obviously synthetic rope will just melt!
