John 16:33 says that Jesus has overcome the world even though we will have tribulation in it. But the physical "overcoming" is yet to come when Jesus rules and reigns on the earth during the end times. That is the promise that we hold on to as Christians....that Jesus came to give us "a future and a hope" Jer 29:11.
