Promises To Keep | Moving Catholic Marriage Drama

Set over Easter weekend, Evelyn and Jonathan - both widowed and in their fifties - meet again when their children fall in love with each other. They almost married each other in their twenties but Evelyn got cold feet. Later Evelyn married one of Jonathan's divorced friends Thomas, and left her Catholic faith rather than wait for him to obtain an annulment. Jonathan had encouraged her many times to return to the faith during her marriage but she resisted. When Evelyn approaches Jonathan insisting they try to stop their children's marriage, both Evelyn and Jonathan's true feelings for each other emerge. Will Evelyn return to the faith and marry Jonathan, or remain estranged?

I couldn't make it through this movie. Just too much jumping from one relationship to another, no matter what the motivation, no matter what they promised to each other-- they just run from one fryingpan into the next fire! I just don't understand Catholics. They are just SO full of rules--yet none of them really keep them. They just go to confession because their forgiveness is so cheap! Just go to the priest and he will take care of it. What a crock! I'm so much happier being Protestant. At least I know that I can get my sins washed away by the Lord Jesus personally, and I know that his own blood was NEVER cheaply shed!!! It seems that Catholics don't really know this because the priest is always interfering. This family in this movie is just too unbelievable.....?..
