The Pronghorn migration is one of the oldest traditions in American history. What do you think about the modern obstacles these pronghorns face on their journeys?

Many Pronghorns make a seasonal roundtrip migration of up to 500 kilometers, where they meet roads, fencing and other agriculture or industry hinders. There are built some animal pass under tunnels, and probably some pass over bridges that are easier to get by. A recent fencing modification project in Wyoming spent more than $6,500 per kilometer of fencing to make the fences more permeable to pronghorn. Still, it's nowhere near enough.

There are an estimated 1.000.000 Pronghorns in the US today, with around half of them in Wyoming. Back in the mid 1800's there probably were around 50 million. Together with even more Buffalo they roamed the great plains and mountain valleys, but a reckless hunt brought both species close to extinction.

@@SilverJunkie-ls4ub - So, having a trolly day again or just got to be the usual twitch, instead of making a positive contribution. The lowest estimate for the Pronghorn population before the Euro Americans hunt destroyed it, is 35 million or more. Several estimates suggest some 50 million.
