I think voiced sounds create vibrations on the neck whilst unvoiced sounds don't. Try to speak and feel your neck with his exampled voiced sounds like tree and swim, and unvoiced sounds like boot and clap. Hope my reply helps. Have a nice day! 😊

You're amazing! I just wonder what's the guiding concerning the pronunciation of ending s after a vowel. When is it /z/ and when is it /IZ/. You can notice that cries and cities are pronounced differently. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

How do we know if a sound is voiced or unvoiced please? I always put my hand on my throat to check if there is vibration or not but I want to be able to recognize them without putting my hand on my throat. Kindly help please.
@bbclearningenglish
@bbclearningenglish 3 жыл бұрын
Once you can recognise voiced and unvoiced by putting your hand on your throat, try to recognise them only by the feel of them in your mouth/throat. If you can feel a vibration in your throat, that is voiced, if not then it is unvoiced. ❤️

you should have cited the voiced letters and the unvoiced letters to make things clearer to english learners. furthermore, you should have e explained how the final es in the word countries is pronounced . in other word , is it pronounced as z or iz. i am waiting for an answer to my quest.
@danielduarte6802

It's pronounced as 'country' but with a 'z' at the end. You already have the 'i' sound there, you just add the 'z'. Same goes for applies, flies, relies, tries...
