This connecting speech is very interesting. This is the reason that listening comprehension is so challenging and difficult.

I never thought of it as starbucks lovers because lucky me, I watched a lyrics video of the song first.

I'm a native english speaker and I've never heard "starbucks lovers" and I can't hear it no matter how hard I try. I always heard it correctly because to me she is enunciating it perfectly. I hear "Got a long list of ex-lovers" perfectly, and I even have a hearing disorder! She doesn't even drop the T's like english speakers usually do, so it wasn't "Godda long liss of ex-lovers" she puts emphasis on the T's like normal. I just don't get it. My friend and I theorize it's partially due to the backing soundtrack and something along the lines of the "Yanny vs Laurel" thing is happening. I'm wondering if you would hear it the same or different if you hear the acapella.

@@elementalenglish !! Yeah! I hope I didn't come across rude in my comment it's always a worry of mine, but yeah! I actually kept diving into these videos bc I'm so curious as to how people hear "lonely starbucks lovers" and one video I FINALLY HEARD IT!!! but it had to have certain visuals on screen to help convince my brain. It's TOTALLY a Yanny/Laurel thing!! Also fun fact.... you know the lyrics "pave paradise and put up a parking lot" in Big Yellow Taxi? I heard first when I was little, and I thought it was "pay paradise to put a fork in love." ...........lol XD I thought "put a fork in love" was just some metaphor I didn't understand cause I was little. One day I asked about it when the song came on.... needless to say I was corrected and embarassed

Every language elides words together like that, not just English.

I'll try do my best. Also I don't live in a country that speaks English so I rely on internet to practice (read and writing). I would like to live in England, USA (*_*), Ireland.. or Trinidad & Tobago ! I guess I could improve if I listen other people speaking it... AND! great video!
