Great lessons! Somehow usally in teaching english focuses on grammar, but really in real life grammar words are disappear, I can read & write, but not always can understand fast speech. I wonder none of the textbook I have seen information on how to people talks in real life. I noticed myself that some of the letters and words is lost and began purposefully look for information about how this happens and find out your channel about 6 month ago. My brain trying to detect "did", "wud", "have" in speech, but sometimes there is no such sounds. Before watch your videos I have never turned out to understand connected speech. Your videos did discovery for me. May be it needs to talk myself for easier understanding speech.

Hello. I enjoy learning English with your videos. I heard that "didn't" becomes like "di in" for the first time. How do you pronounce the words like "shouldn't" or "wouldn't", when you speak fast?

How to pronounce the sound "ng" + vowel sound? For Example: "What's going on?" See Intonation: going-on! I have difficulty with this termination "ng". For me, in Brazilian portuguese, it seems goinhon ... "nh" or ñ

why is the word exhilarated pronounced exhilarated. How does h take the z sound? Nobody say ex hil a rate d.
@elementalenglish
@elementalenglish 8 жыл бұрын
+Craig Cothren Interesting question. The “h” in “exhilarated” is silent. I believe that the “ex” [ɛks] becomes a voiced [ɛgz] because it follows a voiced vowel sound [ɛ] and/or because we are preparing for the voiced [ɪ] vowel sound that follows in “exhilarated”. (The same way that “exit” is [ɛG zɪt] and not [ɛk sɪt]). So, “exhilarated” is pronounced [ɛg ZɪL lə rey dɪd] (in US English). Does that answer your question?
