Even if the pope and Vatican came out and said " Christianity and Jesus was a fabrication." Then laid out the history of it to show the way it was fabricated, I feel people would still cling to it like a safety blanket. That would put every pastor, church, etc....out of business. This is the most profound comment I think I've ever read, I totally agree with you and think that you are spot on. Christians are religious fanatics and absolutely would not believe the Vatican or any other entity for that matter that said their false god jesus was not real. I've gotten to the point where I will not comment on my beliefs or the truth unless I am absolutely sure the person is interested in hearing and knowing the truth, some people will not want to talk to you or be your friend promoting or introducing them to this type of evidence. From a military viewpoint it makes sense. Jesus' teachings seem to drive a wedge between the common people and their leaders (religious teachers), turn the other cheek when struck, be humble, love your enemies, if a soldier compel you to walk a mile go with him two.. that makes the Jewish people easier to conquer. Not really. The Romans did not wage war by confusion or invention of religions. Either they utterly destroyed you like the Catharginians, or the Jews and their revolts, or they bought the loyalty of one barbaric tribe to fight another. All this subterfuge is not in the Roman DNA. What did the Romans care about the squabbles of the Jews and Christians. The Romans saw Christianity as an offshoot of Judaism. Kind of like the protestants coming out of the Catholics. Their emperor and their pantheon of gods were way stronger than those religions out of the Middle East. The Romans destroyed the Second Temple and they killed and scattered the Jews like in their first revolt in 66 AD and in the Bar Kochba rebellion. Those were the Romans. Reply to The Shadow. Thank you for a highly intelligent, rational, well thought out comment; which I shall now do my best to respond too. 1. You may/may not be aware of this, but the Old Testament is based upon the Pentateuch compiled by Moses several hundred years after Abraham and his household 'went out into the desert' from the Sumerian city of Ur (Genesis 11:28-31); and is based upon the very much more ancient information contained within the Sumerian myths/legends/historical memories. These ancient tales were recorded upon clay tablets, tens of thousands of which were unearthed and shipped back to London during the Victorian Era. Once deciphered in the early 1900s, these ancient records told an incredible story which both 'validated' traditional religion; but also explained it's origin (and that of Life on Earth) in a way that's highly understandable to 20/21st Century thinking. 2. Basically, what religion now remembers as 'Gods' were actually Interplanetary Mineral Mining Expedition, which arrived on Earth some 400,000+ yrs ago. As part of this project, they 'terraformed' planet Earth (rather as NASA plans to do on Mars) and two others, and began shipping large amounts of mineral resources back to Nibiru (their home planet), now remembered as 'Heaven'. 3. Following numerous political/financial upheavals including the mutiny of their original labour force, these Annunaki (Those who from the Heavens came down) genetically engineered humanity into existence as a replacement labour force by adding some of their DNA to that of a "lower earthly creature". The most interesting thing about the religion that Jesus was preaching was its spiritual nature. Jesus said when he left the earth he would send back his spirit to guide his people. He said the spirit would make known to them all things and by the spirit they would be empowered to bear the fruits of love and peace and joy and kindness, no longer slaves to their old nature which was self seeking, only desiring pleasure. He promised that when he left he would send the very nature of God to live within us. That is the proof that Jesus is alive and he didn't lie. His spirit is present today and transforms the lives of those who find him. You can't know Jesus is alive by reading a book, or going to a church. You must have spiritual experience, entering a trance like state in which you see experience the nature of God and the truth of life. Not leaving his followers to use their own logic or reasoning to understand the nature of life or overcome the desires by which they are slaves. But instead sending them the power of God to set them free.

But we know that He was and is real because he works in our lives today. We sin, some people have sins that seem not to be really awful. While others have done some extremely mean and horrible things. God loves both. When either makes Jesus their Savior He forgives their sins. Clean slate. The person that hasn't really done anything bad might start sinning soon after his conversion. The person that did the horrible things may have to go to jail and be punished for his crimes but that person usually makes more of an effort to keep his slate clean. If both repent then both are saved. Other ways are to see the Holy Spirit God work in our lives. Healing the sick, doing miracles in people's lives. Know for a fact that God created everything. The universe, the earth, and everything in it. IF you believe that the sun is 96 million miles away is an accident then you need to get real. That the moon is 240 thousand miles away and was put there to keep the oceans and the seas in their place by tides, that is God's handiwork. Those 2 things alone make us different than any other planet. That is not counting our atmosphere. So there is more than blind faith involved in following God.

Well,I've always new something wasn't right about religion and the Bible. It's being proven false almost every year. There is absolutely no such this as accepting an impartcular God or you will be punished for eternity. I found that out when I had a near death experience in 2005. I died for three minutes. I cross over to the other side. Guess what I saw. Peace. You are at peace. That's where I went. I saw no Jesus. I saw no Hell. I saw no Heaven. I saw the most beautiful place on earth and didn't include any concept from the Bible. I had no physical body whatsoever. I swear on my kids life,it was completely real. I saw grass. I saw a beautiful river in front of me. Out of nowhere,everything got brighter than the sun and I was back in my body in a ambulance. I felt the love of there. We all go to a personal place of peace. One of the big arguments this guy makes is that Jesus is too similiar to Moses, but in Duet. 18: 15-19 God says he will raise up a prophet like Moses. I don't see how any of the other prophets could've met the same amount of criteria as Jesus did. On top of that, Atwill here gives converting the Jews to a pacifistic religion as a motive for making Jesus up, but the new testament put Jews as the people who handed Jesus (who according to the new testament itself is God incarnated) over to the Romans for the expressed purpose of having him slain. This would mean the Romans are trying to pacify the Jews by effectively saying "Hey, both our people put your God to an extremely painful and humiiating death, wanna bond over that?". That sounds like a hard sell chief. I don't think anyone is going to try and sell people on, "Hey, you're terrible, I'm terrible, wanna pay taxes?"

@ Wow you really need to think about why Rome was so successful and read more history. The roman Empire wasn't absorbed. It collapsed as all empires finally do, but not because of Christianity. Greed and power struggles within the ruling classes was the collapse and long after Constantine. It's success, at it's height was it's ability to absorb cultures into their own. Constantine might have observed about what certain "Christian" factions could be capable of as it grew in popularity. "Meek and Mild" they most certainly weren't. And then, behold, the birth of the Roman Catholic religion which became the corrupt, oppressive, power hungry institution it was. With the still strongest military power at its back it's grip and consolidation was assured. He convoked the first council of Nicaea to try and calm the growing unrest with the different factions of the religion. The catholic church even fabricated the Donation of Constantine which gave immense power to the church in the middle ages. This was politics and power pure and simple. No god required. The problem with this story is that at the very least, the first 5 books of the Bible predate Flavius. This is no different than the movie 'Zeitgeist' trying to say that Yeshua is just like all other gods, having the same attributes and stemming from sun worship. The problem with that is, most of the dates and things attributed to Yeshua in that movie and in Christianity today are wrong. For example,Yeshua was not born on the 25th of December. Nor was he resurrected on Easter. Those are fallacies perpetuated by the catholic church and continued as tradition in other churches and branches of Christianity. This is dissemination. Yet, the Encyclopedia Brittanica states, "The first Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians was likely written by St. Paul from Corinth about 50 CE." In the first chapter of this letter, he writes, "10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come." As far as I could find it is considered to be one of the earliest Christian writings, by scholars of ALL persuasions. They date it between 48-52. Like I said, for this conspiracy theory to be viable, you need someone like Josephus, a friend of the Flavian dynasty, to pull it off, AFTER the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Okay Dee, I'll try to give some explination on the two genealogies. We'll take a look at Matthew's first: vs. 1-17. It starts with Abraham(father of many nations Gen. 17:5). The genealogy is divided into 3 sections: from Abraham to Jesse, from David to Josiah, and from Jeconiah to Joseph. Each section covers 14 generations. The interesting part of Matthew's genealogy is the inclusion of 4 women, which is extremely rare in the Oriental and Mid-Eastern. They are Tamar an ex-harlet(Gen38:13-30) Rahab an Ex-harlet(Josh 2:1 Ruth former Pagen (Ruth 1:4). Bath-sheba former adulteress. 2Samuel 11:1-5. By God's grace all 4 became involved in King David's life. Now, Luke's genealogy. It starts with Christ after His baptism by John the Baptist. Luke 3:21,22. Jesus is now 30, ready to begin His ministy on earth and about 3 years away from His death on the cross. Luke's genealogy 3:23-38, ends with Adam. By ending with Adam it shows Jesus' human side. A couple of notes here must be brought up: 1. In verse 23 "the son of Joseph with was the son of Heli," Joseph was Heli son in law, Heli was Mary's father. Luke needed to bring this in to show her direct line to King David through his son Nathan. Matthew included women in his genealogy, Luke does not but needed to get Mary in. He does this through her father and Joseph. 2. King Jeconiah, you may recognize his name from Matthew's genealogy, had a curse placed upon him by God that he would go childless. Joseph was in direct line of this King, not Mary. Even though he sat on the same throne as David years after David's death, the curse did not affect the lineage of Jesus from King David because of his son Nathan. As the real Son of Mary, Jesus fulfilled His promised to David that his seed would be on the throne forever. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

You're on the right track, Josephus was just a bootlicker and like a true Jew was in denial of Jesus as the messiah and claimed vespasian was the messiah instead so as to kill him with flattery so he wouldn't be killed. The Josephus method was fathered by him as well obviously, he worked out the numbers so his band of friends killed eachother and he was supposed to fall on his sword to avoid being enslaved by Rome. Only once all were dead he dropped his sword and pleaded with Titus and Vespasian to let him live and help them get the jews to give up making it easier.

I've read Josephus' work translated by Whiston. Twice. I'm reading the entire works of Josephus AGAIN for the third time. Nowhere, and I mean NOWHERE is there anything in the works suggesting that the gospels were in any way shape or form written, or inspired, by Josephus. Paul wrote his epistles long before Titus became emperor and long before Josephus wrote his histories, sometime in the year 90 AD, in Rome. The tone of his writings, his constant praising of himself, claiming he is some kind of prophet to save his own skin, suggests to me that he was more concerned about his reputation as a historian of note, such as Herodotus or Philo, as well as Manetho, whom he excoriates at every turn. This presentation provides little or absolutely NO PROOF that Titus or any of the Flavians would be capable of conjuring up anything remotely resembling the gospels. And, for what purpose? To convert Jews to the new paganism? Judea was destroyed in 70 ad by Titus, he celebrated his triumph in Rome, and even had an arch built to commemorate his victory, hardly a victory when you consider the Jews had no standing army, no allies to help the fight off Roman aggression, nothing but sticks and stones to fight the mighty Roman legions. Four years, and seven Roman legions to defeat a hapless and utterly helpless population of Jews. Hardly a caesar, no where even close to Pompeii, or his own dad Vespasian. This was no victory, it was a genocide. No good comes out of this, especially anything resembling Jesus. This IS rubbish.

The Gospels also follow the Zodiac as a motif and Jesus himself is a solar allegory. This additional parallel with Titus is very interesting and could help explain why the Gospels contain all that they do. The "fishers of men" portion fits the Zodiacal motif in that Jesus was a solar her for the astrological age of Pisces. This also helps explain the ichthys and Jesus's miraculous feedings of people with fish (as well as bread). The story of Legion, on the other hand, did not seem to fit anything in the Zodiac, but now we have this parallel with Titus that offers an explanation. These lines of inquiry should be brought together if we are ever truly to understand what all went into making the Gospel what it is.

What about another explanation, since the gospels were happening around 40 years earlier, if Titus was aware of them, which he most likely was, he instructed Josephus to make a mockery out of it by having his military campaign in the same order written down. Exactly. Jesus was born, lived and died before Titus. Jesus is believed to have been born in 4BC and died in 33 AD....and resurrected of course, as a Christian myself. Titus was born in 39 AD...So how can the story of Jesus be based on Titus, when the chronological order says otherwise?

If they invented him, they did a great job. He said, "Love your neighbor, help the weak, give to the poor, love even the "lowliest" in society (the hated lepers, tax collectors, prostitutes, etc), and "Acknowledge God and He will acknowledge you", etc. Those are pretty good teachings and examples, for someone you say is "made up." DENOMINATIONS can trip you up, but the words of Jesus, alone, are as close to perfect as we'll ever read/find.

Vickie. Yes, they are pretty good teachings. Practiced all over the world by many cultures including people who have never heard of this jesus. Even (for the sake of argument) if he wasn't a fictitious character doesn't prove he was the architect of this philosophy or bring us closer to proving he is the son of god. Who influenced him in his younger life? Who were his teachers? Nothing is known about him for most of his life.

But his WORDS alone are, to me, perfect. And when Jews following Torah, disrespected lepers, prostitutes, tax collectors, atc, he didnt shun them, and even touched the lepers. If theres anything more perfect than his teachings, i havent found them. I have book of Tao, had a Quran (gift from a friend in Kuwait), and had to take that World Religions class in high school, i still find his teachings the best of all. (We're all entitled to our own opinions, thats just mine. NOT denominations, i learned quickly not to follow "his followers", just him. I have 4 kids now grown. Two are Chistians, one practices Judaism, and one is agnostic (they're all great kids). So, to each his own, thats just my own opinion of him.

I'm sure your kids are fantastic and I am glad the religious and non religious mix doesn't effect that. My partner was Muslim and this was not a point of conflict. With the greatest of respect. Jesus wrote nothing down. Everything he said and did was written by anonymous people long after the events. The first gospel,(Mark), was written at least 70 years after his supposed death. The possibility of any of the gospels being eyewitness accounts are slim and all written in the third person. You are, in fact, reading someone else's account of what was supposedly said and done by him. The bible does not contain all the writings of those times and was "edited" by the Council of Nicaea who decided what should, and shouldn't, be included in the bible you read and trust. I know there are a lot of conspiracy theories about suppressed writings etc but we have to remember that the Roman Catholic church was heavily into politics on a massive scale at one time (still is up to a degree) with their own agenda. Doesn't that make you think? About the origins, not the teachings I mean. These teachings are good but are self evident for the common good. Was he the architect or just preaching what he learned from others? Keep safe in these current troubles.

I was born and lived a christian life 48 yrs of my life but I always question the so called gospel in my own real life experience with my family even though the messge of the gospel is that nothing is impossible with him. My parents are very religious and are church leaders in our local church. Septuagint is the oldest bible and it was written in Greek and ha the Apocryphal books. Jews in reaction to Jesus wrote a non-Greek bible in the first century AD that later became the Masoretic text. The Catholic church added letters to the Septuagint and then Jews convinced weak protestants to remove the Apocryphal texts and to use the Masoretic over the Septuagint.

Using paralels in the story actually suggests it is not written by Romans but by Jews, because that was the way they wrote. Also, some letters of Paul can be dated before Josephus and Titus' war this video refers to. Furthermore some dead sea(?) fragments of the new testament are dated before it. This does not exclude later edits for the benefit of the Romans of course.

the typology that brings moses and Jesus is part of the point matthew's making . not a fictional copy . just bcuz 2 guys parallel each other , doesn't necessarily mean one or both is fictional .matthew is making a parallel btwn the 2 to say Jesus is like moses , and is making us anticipate a moses like act from him . at times he contrasts Jesus to show how He is greater than moses eg: "moses said unto you .......but I say unto you "

Tell me about it. He forgets that Isaiah was written along time before Roman rule and renamed Israel to Palestine and books of NT was written after the destruction of the 2nd temple. But im going too far i guess to his point he means Greek not roman since the first translated Bible the septuagint its in Greek.

Judaism does the same thing. Stories are borrowed from earlier cultures such as the Sumerians. 12 Tribes of Israel, 12 Apostles, because in ancient Sumeria they used the 6 based mathematical system that most of us use today along with the 12 signs of the Zodiac. This is where it came from and the Moses story is also borrowed from ancient Sumer (Iraq). King Soloman= Sol, meaning the Sun, and Oman, taken from Amen Ra. All religions are based on astrotheology and Da Vinci encoded this in "The Last Supper" painting that he created. The Christ's golden halo is the Sun (monotheism) and the twelve apostles are 4 in groups of 3 representing the 4 seasons Spring Summer Fall and Winter and the 3 months of each season. This is exactly what Da Vinci was telling us hundreds of years ago and it's encoded in his painting right there for all of us to see. I bet this man doesn't take on any Jewish Scriptures though.

The narrator here. seems like a nice guy, I listened to nearly the entire presentation. speaking candidly the connections he makes between Titus and Jesus are extremely vague. No hard feelings but what he has presented would not even qualify as bad science. Basically he stared at the sky long enough to see what he wanted to see and made out what he see as a face in the clouds.
