It probably copped abuse from most (stupid) reviewers for having a chipset fan & therefore being ridiculously noisy, funny how most say the chipset fan is too noisy but a 40mm fan on a VRM is a great feature because it will improve performance by allowing better a OC, I can't see the difference between a 40mm fan on a VRM to a 40mm fan on a Chipset myself 🤔plus I am quite positive the VRM fan would be running more often than the Chipset one & way quieter than a Tower cooler trying it's hardest to cool an i9-10900K at 5.2GHz

As far as I can tell this may cause a singularity if used too much. Double negatives are bad enough. This is a double.... a double... there's currently no description for this double in the database, hence it can literally cause a singularity if you use it more than once. Hi Buildzoid! Asus has brought out a feature with the Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero. "Dynamic Overclock Switcher", apparently exclusive to the Dark Hero. Also apparently that will not be coming via UEFI update to older Crosshair VIII / other boards, since Asus apparently claims they made other changes. Roman made a video about "Dynamic OC Switcher" yesterday as part of his 5950X review. A current-based switching between Default/PBO mode and per-CCX-OC mode. Aside from what seems to me a little better VRM on the Dark Hero, is this not rather a firmware thing than a board design matter? If you happen to read this, would be very interested in your speculation / guesstimation! Cheers

My old X58 war horse still does pretty much everything I want it to do a mind-boggling TEN YEARS after I first bought it. I figure the AMD 5000 series will be the last new chip made for the AM4 socket. I think when AMD's 6000 series CPUs come out on TSMC's new 5nm process with, surely, a new CPU socket [AM5?] I will finally upgrade. After gigabyte botching all their RX 460s with pcbs that break internally ( non repairable )( not owning up to it) And MSI shady practices, im looking to Asus or Asrock and it's good to see, possibly Sapphire.

Asus screwed up their Strix 5700 XT and blamed AMD, then screwed up the TUF 5700 and XT, so yeah I wouldn't recommend Asus. Go with Sapphire, Powercolor or Gigabyte, Asrock and XFX are a bit hit and miss.

Do you have any link for the RX 460 Gigabyte? I'm interested in seeing what exactly is wrong with it

@@kaspars6470 PCB is broken blowing fuse/vrm. I always noticed the HDMI was unusually hot, vrms were heating it up, likely flex the PCB with time and break. Mine broke with no load, power limited to 15w

While I used to like sapphire too in general, I am a lot more wary of them now than I was before. I run a small System Building operation, and bought a TON of the Sapphire RX 470's back at launch because those were the first GPU's that launched at a somewhat acceptable price in my country, and enabled me to sell a good amount of Refurbished Gaming PC's based off of old Intel 2500ks. Big mistake. The reference design blower style RX 470s were HORRIBLE - with an almost 20% failure rate. And while they were honoring warranty for a bit and of the total 500+ that i had purchased, I did get 70+ rma'ed, but then they stopped honoring the warranty one fine day out of the blue. I had several conversations with them and their distribution partners telling them that all of the cards fail with the exact same issue so its a parts issue that they had for that specific design, because every other kind even made by sapphire were fine, but nothing. On EVERY single one of them the caps on the opposite side of the VRMs would burn out eventually, usually well within the warranty under normal non-oc load (these werent the kinda customers who would oc their cards). I am now sitting on almost 30 dead GPU's that they have refused to honor the warranty on - just flat out refused. I have written to everyone up and down the chain, nothing. I had to pay for the replacements to my customers out of my own pocket and it STILL tanked my reputation. Lesson learnt. NEVER EVER am I touching anything sapphire. No other brand or model have I ever had such an experience with, and failure rate is never over 5% for anything anyways.
