I can relate to 1:11 because dachshund has tennis balls and we always end up getting on our hands and feet and we have bring out broom just his tennis ball out under the couch the love seat and sometimes his tennis ball would go underneath the dishwasher.

You'd be surprised how many animals exhibit behaviors similar to humans. There is an entire subreddit dedicated to it called r/likeus. My favorite clip is a dad gorilla trying to nap only for his kid to come up and bug him. His face is amazing.

Do not ever tease your dog, especially with food. Do not even sit with food on a plate on your lap with your dog anywhere near you, it is their natural instinct to try and grab the food - the pet owner shoves the dog away and you end up with a very confused dog.

I agree with everything you said except the plate-in-lap thang. We trained our dogs to expect treats only after we finish eating, and only in the kitchen. They've been very polite, even the beagle and the beagle-dachshund mix -- notoriously nose- and food-driven breeds. We'd show them we were setting aside treats for them from our dinner and putting them into the special treat bowl. Then, we'd eat in complete peace, and the dogs sat where they could see us and the kitchen door simultaneously. Only when we stand to take our plates to the kitchen do they start capering for their well-earned goodies. We ask guests to do the same, and they're always impressed at how our buddies _don't_ try to climb all over us while we munch. All our puppers have been good boys, except the beagle-dachshund mix, and she was a sweet, tough, brave little girl.

My dogs never try to grab the food off my plate. I can get up off my couch set my plate down walk into another room and come back in the dogs ( 4 from 2002 until current) haven’t touched it. Just make sure any extra food you give them is always in their bowl and when training them put the dish down and stay there & continue to tell them no and push them away from the plate until they learn not to touch it.

I have had big and small dogs and they didn't require much training to know to not eat anything but what was placed on the floor. Like the other person said, you do your dog and I will do mine.
