My wife and I rescued and found adopters for abandoned dogs for years. At one point we ended up with two Great Dane puppies. I told my wife I was concerned about being able to adopt them out. Wow, was I WRONG! I found out quickly that those huge dags have their own, huge fan base! We had adopters in record time!!

@@brendaswann7292 You told my story! I lost my last girl 2 yrs ago and life without them is empty. I too cannot lift them and that’s not fair when they are old and fall. I have 2 ramps but that doesn’t help in the yard when they take a spill. A friend is a breeder/show dogs, I get my Dane fix from her precious Giants. Mine all lived to at least 9 but one girl to 13. The Vet’s were amazed.

I had no idea Great Danes were so much fun and emotional - they’re wonderful!! And that howl - it’s as loud and piercing as the howl of a wolf, I’m amazed there was no wolf or even another dog. I have to admit, I love so many dog breeds. However, the great Dane is the special dog in my life. I’ve had two of them. They are truly special. The heartbreak that they have such a short life is the only drawback. There’s such a magnificent dog.

2 of my Great Danes used to clean the others' ears out. It was like a morning afternoon and nightly ritual !It used to gross me out! My solution is to only have one at a time. These two were littermates. I will never forget that sou ND while trying to sleep, eat or watch TV. But with that said Great Danes are pure gold! I have beeb rescuing these CARPET PONYS for close to 50 years.

Great Danes I never knew how funny they can be. But my neighbor’s Great Dane, Libby, rest her soul, always looked so serious. She had grace as she pranced around her owners yard small as it is. She was brindle as a coat color. She passed away years ago. When I’d take my Chihuahua out when she was alive, Libby would come to the fence to say hi to Montana, and she got her head pet from me. Libby when she was out never failed to greet us. I miss that big girl.

I was raised with great Danes. We had the father and son. He was mated and one little baby boy was born blind. My parents chose him as their pick because they were going to euthanize him. The puppy was tethered to the daddy and he showed the puppy around the property. Almost 5 acre's. If the car was parked just an inch forward the poor baby would run into it. Poor baby did that a couple times and I still feel bad cause he would run up the side walk full on and it was not an easy bump on the head. I miss them.

As long as it's done by a qualified vet there's nothing wrong with it.Ear cropping can be beneficial .Dogs with long ears suffer more ear problems.

Soooo wrong. Had Danes for 40+ years and the kindest thing you can do is crop. Natural ears get wounds often and take many months to heal. Ear infections from any moisture in the ear (baths) cause incredible pain and when they get one they flap those ears so violently they wound ears. Which is more painful? Danes that play along chain link fences beat their tails to a pulp on the fence and it takes months to resolve which usually ends up requiring amputation. If you’ve never owned a Gentle Giant do not critique those of us who learned the hard way. Do you tack their stomach or let them die from bloat or spay/neuter before a year so their hormones get messed up and they develop canine wobblers syndrome? Educate yourself!!!

When I was 11, I was wandering around a construction site of a new subdivision. It was Saturday, so I didn't think anyone was there, but there was one guy working inside one of the houses and he had a large great Dane, with started running towards me. I knew I had no chance of getting away, so I didn't bother running. I was about 5'3" at the time and the dog was literally as tall as I was. He ran right up to my face and let out one giant bark. I just cross my arm in front of me and hollered "help!" The guy was not concerned at all, he just called the dog back and complied. It was terrifying. If the dog wanted me, I was toast. I hate to think what would've happened if I tried to run!

We are a Great Pyrenees family. Our newest rescue is a Maremma/Akbash cross. He stand 34” at the whithers, and is so long his body stands door to door in the back seat of my full size truck or my explorer. I call Yeti our “white house donkey!” 😂 He stretches out from one side of our king bed to the other, so we have two king beds now! 😂😂

My daughter's dog is like that huge dog. She is still so attached to her puppy bed that she insists on sleeping in it. Not as big as the great Dane but nevertheless spills out all over her tiny baby bed. She has a perfectly good grown up bed but refuses to use it. 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
