G'day Silas. Thanks for the vids, very helpful. Already subscribed. Would be great if you could put up a hands on tutorial of how you actually proofread a sample document. What does the client send you? What do you do to the Word doc or Google Doc? What do you return to the client? Do you return an edited document or a document showing markups/comments? What is the client typically expecting?
@SilasHaigh2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Gregory. Appreciate the support. It really depends on the type of client. For general proofreading (blog, book, etc.), it would usually be a Google Doc/Word doc and I would use track changes on my laptop to make suggestions. For my work with court reporters, they send a PDF and I proofread and make annotations using my iPad, then only send back the annotated pages. You also have to be wary not to fall into trap of editing at a proofreading rate, so setting that expectation early is very important. Different clients do have different expectations/understandings around what proofreading vs editing is. You might find my full proofreading playlist helpful: kzbin.info/aero/PLXnErTSVA9tWDuctYj69VYpKdHQKicQlw

Glad to hear! Although I'm still doing a lot of proofreading work, I've decided to go in a different direction with my video creation, so unfortunately I probably won't be creating any other proofreading-related content anytime soon. However, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask in the comments like you've done already :)

Kindly prepare yourself before making video, too many hiccups and pauses in your speech are very annoying- don't know whether you actually speak like this unintentionally or speak this way to sound classy!
