Prop hunt pro tips, from a guy that's played like, 4 hours of prop hunt several years ago: 1. Props like Control points, hay, carpets, etc. that are meant to be viewed from above lack proper textures on the bottom, which means an effective strategy is to get as high as possible. You will be very hard to see, but not completely invisible. 2. Go up. No one looks up. Unless they've played before, in which case your mileage may vary. 3. The previously mentioned props that are meant to be seen from above also lack collision. A good strategy is to find one of those props and hide in it. Hay in hay works surprisingly well. On Harvest, hiding in the carpet can be an effective tactic as well. You spawn directly beside it, with proper positioning you can be pretty much invisible. The only threat is a pyro walking into you, or a pyro shooting fire randomly. Just don't hide in the control point as a control point. That's a high traffic area and a pyro WILL walk into you. 4. Have fun! When I was playing, I personally found the most fun I had was letting the game take the wheel and just roll with what I got. Nothing beats the joy of getting a really good prop, or getting a lousy one and being forced to get creative. The carpet tactic I mentioned was one of those moments. Really good, yeah, but I had to come up with it on the fly to make it work, and I could have easily let it pass and end up dying immediately because I couldn't think fast enough. Or as another example, getting a box on harvest (I forget which kind) and hiding on top of one of the chimneys. Blended in perfectly, wasn't caught the entire round. Moments of forced creativity are, in my opinion, the most interesting part of prop hunt. I don't have much to say about the hunter side besides memorizing the objects, but you don't HAVE to pick Pyro. Other classes get the weapons removed which makes them weak, but a Trolldier or Demojumper is still an effective tactic, and one you can use if you just want to fuck around. Or you can pick Heavy and be a meme.
