I enjoyed the video! Very to the point which is what I like! Your Clippings look Beautiful! I noticed that you used what looked like sand in the pot, though. Is that what that was, sand? Thanks! I just acquired some clippings so I need to know what they like best!

That's is awesome to hear, thank you! Yes, that's right I used sand in the pot when transplanting and you can have sand content from anywhere between 60-90% and rest could be cocopeat or garden soil. But for propagation, if you could have a 50-50 mix of sand and cocopeat- that would be just perfect. I wish you great time propagating these beautiful plants. A great choice for a plant! Unique color, in fact, colors I should say, keep some in shade- get greenish leaves and keep some in sun to have purple leaves. Can you help me? I had a bunch of rooted Purple Heart props that suddenly died about two weeks ago. I’m scratching my head was it because I left them in a soil watery mix for too long? They were so healthy until early winter.

Sure, happy to help! Oh. that's unfortunate, really. If I talk specifically about my experience with the purple heart cuttings- as you saw in the video I raised them in water and soil (conclusion- the soil cuttings were far more aggressive in their overall growth pattern). So you too can start them straight into the soil. If you say, you want to start them in the water again, then sure, you do that however this time around make sure you do these things- 1. Take the cuttings and let them sit in water for 3- 4 weeks until roots are fully developed 2. Now, after a month or so, remove the cuttings and give them a gentle wash with tap water 3. Cuttings are ready to be put in soil (any normal soil mix would do), use a pot with good drainage and water immediately 4. The water and soil together is a bad situation for the plant. Once a considerable amount of soil is in the pot (with water), you need to make sure excess water doesn't stay for more than 2-3 hours. Lovely video. I can see your location as Dubai. Since I am also in Dubai, would you mind telling me if I need to keep this plant in direct sunlight or semi shaded area. I propagated this from cutting since almost a month but cant see any new growth. Although the plant look healthy but no growth. I am wondering if something is wrong. Thanks in advance e.

The thing to note is this- if the plant is in full sun, leaves would be dark purple and if they are in the shade, the leaves would have a light green color. And as you said, the plant was started from a cutting a month ago, so it is busy growing roots hence you don't notice highlighted growth. Give it a month or two and you will see beautiful growth. Please don't water the pot if you feel/see the soil is wet. First 3-4 days into the process, wet soil won't be a problem, in fact, it's good (so water every day, no worries) but after 4 days, just water the pot once a week and let it be in the shade for 2 weeks and then, of course, the plant can be in the direct sunlight.
