Propagating Wandering Jew & the Result

Because I felt bad about throwing away excess Wandering Jew plants while I was repotting, I decided to save some as cuttings & propagate them. Wandering Jew is such an easy going plant & the same goes for making cuttings.

I was at a grocery store and found two small pieces of wandering Jew partly trampled on the ground. I took them home and within one week they rooted in water. I have always wanted one of these and now am so excited to have one!

That's the good thing about wandering Jews it could be halfway dead and it will grow anywhere as long as it has its soil and water. I absolutely love love love mine.

I have one of these in a hanging pot, I occasionally pick off the end of a stem and shove it into the soil wherever there's a gap, they have never failed so far.

This is interesting, I’ve never done the laydown method but when I propagate and stick the stems in one by one it grows funky straight upwards

I just wanted to say that you can root these in just water as well they root so so fast in just water its like magic.. I have 5different types of this plant and they all have done perfect in just putting them in water. I just thought id let you know it truly is way faster in water. thanks Hope they keep looking and doing great.. I think that's a lot of extra work when the water is safe super fast and you don't have to do anything but sit close to a lamp.. :) happy growing

I tried rooting wandering Jew cuttings in water and they rooted in just 3 days! It must have been during their growing season. Yours look really nice! Video request: could you make a video giving us a tour of your growing spaces? I'm working on one right now :)

These plants will root if they break off and hit the ground. I retrieved some that took root in a crack. Strong willed to live plant!

I put a bag over a plant that I was trying to route in soil as well but with in a week and with good ventilation the soil grew mold on top of it so I had to toss the plant

Did you put drainage holes in the containers? She didn't mention this part, but you can see them on hers, and a lack of them might have been what produced the mold.

Can you tell me how moist that soil was before you sprayed it down? I think I'm going to use this method to save my little bit of wandering jew that I have. I had tried repotting one by sticking a stem down in some soil, and it doesn't seem to be doing much after a week or two. Really liked this video. Thanks

I know this is two years old, but coco coir and shredded egg shells is cheap and great.
