Keep these videos coming Walter! About to upgrade my homemade forge so I appreciate the information and advice.

Great video Walter! Upgrading my basic no gauge regulator to a proper Victor regulator (the same one you have) was the best upgrade to my forge, runs so much better with proper gas flow and control!

Got one of the amazon 2 burner forges to play with. Refractory and liner came with it were so so. Burners actually get it hot fast. The regulat and hoses not so good, when its adjusted to a good flame it will eat thru a bbq type propane tank pretty quickly

Then forge is not good at all ,burner is not optimal for size and forge isnt insulated properly. Read book by Gas Burners for Forges, Furnaces and Kilns - M. Porter (2004) BBS it has a great burner in there and it goes in detail how to build efficient forge.

@@zumbazumba1 I'm pretty sure the regulator is junk. Been to busy with day job to worry about swapping stuff out

@@ahiraband3939 Its nozzle size that determines burner consumption. Regulators job is to keep constant pressure of gas for said nozzle diameter. Venturi burners work on principle that gas under certain pressure is released trough nozzle and it travels down trough main body of burner with high velocity ,as the stream moves forward it sucks in air from back.At the end of body is usually larger pipe that slows down gas and air and mixes it together. Everything needs to be optimal to make burner efficient. For example if diameter of main tube is too large you need larger nozzle and more pressure to achieve venturi effect = more consumption.IF it is too small it may not deliver enough heat for the size of the forge. You might want to redisign the burner, book i mentioned above has a great design that needs basic tools -if you have access to lathe you can do it even easier.I made myself one by the book dimensions -i gave myself a little creativity freedom that fit my tools and materials avalable(i couldnt get fittings in my country so i used hydraulic line tube of 12mm ,M8 mig tip and a peace of round steel with 12mm hole in middle and i welded it to a pipe ,guy did a lathe job ,was very cheap its basic shape that can be done in 5 min.)

Im still using a 1 burner forge (9kg gas bottle build with a sacrifical hard brick in the base so flux doesnt eat the forge), im not making swords, but you can definitely make a sword with that space and damascus isnt an issue. I tried to get it to be as efficient as possible.

I have single burner, 3 burner and 5 burner forges. I never use the 5 burner. Turned out to be total overkill. I love my 3 burner!

In my experience forced air is much quieter, as long as youre not using a loud ass fan, than a venturi. I weny to a ribbon burner several years ago and cant imagine going back to a venturi burner

Exactly. I built my first ribbon burner 2 years ago, then made the jump to an Apollo forge a few months ago, and couldn’t imagine going back

As long as there is pressure in bottle flame cant go in and it cant explode. You can see firemen carrying out gas bottles that are on fire out of houses ,they cover them with wet cloth and close the valve.

I built my forge and burner and it is a dragon. The #1 thing you can do for your forge is a product called ITC 100! It will bring your forge up to temperature fast.

Hah....it's trying to explain to the neighbor that it's really just a high temp, higher pressure version of a BBQ and isn't going to blow up the neighborhood.
